States Legal To Ship and Receive Black Powder Revlovers From Without FFL

My state is Utah

No restrictions for shipping or receiving black powder guns.

Why do we need this thread?

Viewing Cabela's or any other black powder purveyor's website's shipping policies will show which states are legal.
 
The list of restricte states would be alot shorter and easier.

The "likes" of NY allow it, unless you're in the Big Apple. In New York State, one doesn't need a permit to receive or own a black powder revolver unless you plan to actually fire it, or even have the "fixins" in one's possession, at which time you need to add it to your pistol permit. A FFL is not required; one may apply directly to the county.

This, of course, applies only to law abiding citizens. Criminals can order a BP revolver on the Internet, then order a conversion cylinder for metallic cartridges, and so equipped, hold up the local bodega. One can therefore possess and use a very formidable weapon without the inconvenience of going through the permit process.
 
Info is for me or anyone else interested.

I have found lots of conflicting info on line and am trying to sort it out by gathering this data.

Order MUST be placed through the Catalog Gun Department by calling 1-800-237-4444 ext 132 for all gun orders placed from or shipped to:

Washington: Cabela's must ship to an FFL holder, or one can pick-up in the store with ID proof 18+. UPS says they will ship, but I hardly want to drag my 1861 Springfield into the local-yokhal-center and deal with someone who is still learning to shave without cutting himself.
 
Cabela's is stating what they WILL not do, not what they CAN not do. There's no law that says one must call the catalog department before shipping a black powder gun to Michigan, for instance.

Michigan is legal,cabelas is referring to the old law in mi. pre 2004,when you needed a purchase permit,and safety inspection,they told me they needed a notarized statement to ship, or I could come in and buy one over the counter,with no ffl,once gander mountain had a R O A and wouldnt sell it to me without a purchase permit,after the janet kukuk act became law.:cool:

NYC is the same way as the rest of the state in regards to BP arms. Can be shipped to your door and legal to possess unless loaded or stored with loading material.

As far as the "criminals" go, I don't think 99.9999 percent of them even know of the BP revolvers' existence, and the rest don't want to deal with the mess and the cleanup. So l'm not at all concerned.

No worries, you will get your shipment just fine. It may take a few days if you are using UPS Standard ground or USPS package priority, but you will receive your order. If you start to become concerned, you can call the ordering department of where you ordered it from, and obtain the shipping tracking number. You may already have that information in an email that many of the distribution outfits send out as a standard courtesy to their "mailorder" orders.

thank you David. i ordered it Friday night with my dad, they have not shipped it yet but when they do i believe they will send me a tracking number i can enter into UPS.com and track my package all the way to my front door. sadly when we ordered it my dad used his email address, however he will forward me the email when he gets it. and if that fails i can hire a Native American tracker to put his ear to the ground, look for hoof prints, broken twigs haha! :p
