Mixing Camo Patterns?

Dirty jeans and plaid?

Clashing patterns, like plaid and stripes?

Definitely not going to work at all!

All the clothing salesmen at Cabala's will laugh at you if you go in there wearing it, looking to try matching last years patterns with this years patterns.
Whatever it is, they don't make it this year!

On the other hand, most breeds of animals & birds you will be hunting don't give a damn if you are wearing cammo or not.

As long as you aren't jumping up & down, yelling, and waving your arms..

(BTW...natives were fine with just a spear and a loin cloth)

Or...., some guides recommend different camo patterns to better break up your outline...

I have a requirement to wear 500 square inches of blaze orange in my state, I own very little camo, Carhart bibs and jackets for me please.

the deer will definitely not come near you in mixed matched camo. they find this offensive, and an insult to their intelligence... If you watch the tv ads it's very clear that you need a specific kind of camo only the latest and greatest!

I wear about four different kinds of camo at any given time, and sometimes just some blue jeans or carharts.. deer are stupid. it is a great sales pitch for all those scent-be-gone companies to convince you deer are brilliant, but none of the minivans I've ever seen them run out in front of had matching camo shirts and pants...you'll be okey dokey...

I muzzleloader hunted yesterday with a 1985 field jacket and realtree HP pants.


I hunt a bunch in carhart brown bibs...ever notice that brown deer blend in pretty good? LOL

I can tell the difference and my wife says I'm a "Turkey".

That is sooo last season...it's Realtree and Mothwing this year. The trophy bucks are all going to laugh you out of the woods.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with wearing multiple patterns. I do it all the time. My wife actually asked me this question earlier this archery season. She mostly wears Realtree, and me Mossy Oak. She asked me if it would be okay if she wore a Mossy Oak top with her Realtree pants. I think she was worried the contrast would make her stand out- being the Realtree is so much lighter. Like I told her, it doesn't matter much, as long as it fits and meets your needs for warmth and movement. It may seem like a silly question to many, but to me it would be sillier to sit and wonder without asking.

No. Most camo is a waste of money. Chuck Adams killed every big game animal on this continent with a bow and he was usually wearing jeans and a plaid shirt when he did it.

Ducks and turkey demand good camo...but you could kill a deer while wearing a clown suit. Movement is the first rule of camoflauge...if you're moving they'll see you...sit still and they'll be cool.

Camo can help but it's over rated. I haven't bought any new camo in a long time...and I kill a lot of deer.

The only Camo I wear is a net on my face, because a Turkey can see you blink & I wear glasses.

I won't matter. In fact I often mix different patterns because I feel it breaks up the recognizable human silhouette.

I spend most of my time while turkey hunting sitting on grassy ground leaning against a tree trunk, so my pants are Advantage Max1 (green and brown) and the top is Realtree Xtra Brown (brown with bark). Works great.

I find mosy oak to be too dark for most of where I hunt..realtree ap seems to be lighter and match the leave and dead grassy fields better in rural MO...but again it doesn't matter really

What you see as matching the backround isn't necessarly the same thing a game animal see's as matching it.

Unlike us, deer see green, yellow, orange, red, and brown all as shades of yellow because deer have no red cones.
They also see UV light that we can't see because by nature, they are creatures of the night and can see quite well at night.

It could be that even the most carefully chosen cammo patterns actually "glow" to a deer compared to the natural backround you try your darndest to match with it.

You need to learn to snipe from 1500 yards like the rest of us so camo is a non-issue.
