Charter Arms Bulldog in .357

I have owned the shorter-barrel version of that gun for almost 20 years. I like it for .38 Spl. loads. Not a fancy gun, but accurate and reliable. $200 seems like a very good price.

I've had a .44 Special (favored by "Son of Sam" of all people) bulldog since I traded it for an International Scout soft top in 84. It too is one of those freakishly lightweight pistols but I've never babied it, don't much worry within the confines of the specified caliber what I shoot in it and left it knocking around in trunks and truck floors for months at a time to no ill effect. I woulda never expected the pistol to hold up like it has given my first impression.

Good gun. I believe it will be a TRACKER model with a 6" bull barrel with adjustable sights or simply BULLDOG 357 with a tapered 6" barrel and fixed sights. I've fired both of those versions. Towards the end of the 1st Gen there was a stainless steel BD TARGET model in .357 and a 5 1/2" barrel offered in the catalogues but I've never seen one in the real world.
200 bucks for one of any of the above is a real bargain. I've fired full power .357 Mags out of both my TRACKER and the BD 357. It's invigorating, but not unmanagable.

Apparently, that model was not very popular and was only carried in the catalogues for a couple years. Don't see many of them in the market place either. I'm thinking they are a scarce variant. Seems to me that you spent your $200 well!.

Yeah - you gotta wonder about Charter Arms marketing sometimes... My "Target" Bulldog in .44 with a 4 inch barrel... target, really? I love it but, again, target?

I have a charter arms mag pug 357 it has been back to charter twice and when I get the time it will be sent back again. maybe the old ones were better.

I had a mid-70's vintage .44 Bulldog...shot well, put the lead where aimed. My only knock was not on the Bulldog, but the price of .44Spl ammo...about 2.5x the price of .44Mag.

A quick peek at the Charter website shows the Target Bulldog now offered in both 4" & 5" models.

Like ApacheCoTodd, to me a "target" revolver is a 6" or longer barrel version.

I don't think anyone suggested that you had suggested such. I had commented on the weirdness of one of mine being called a "Target Bulldog" given the caliber build quality and barrel length.
