I'm looking for a .920 bull barrel threaded with the specs for this: http://www.silencerco.com/?section=Products&page=Sparrow and I'm having trouble finding an online seller. Anyone know of any?
Yes, a machinist will know this. This type of cut is made many times by machinists not working on firearms. Trust me, a machinist knows this type of cut. There are a lot of applications that require threads concentric to a central hole, not just gun barrels. As long as the machinist knows to index off the bore and not the outer portion of the barrel, I would agree.
I know that a machinist knows how to do it and that type of cut isn't uncommon, but unless the machinist knows the reason for the cut, he may not automatically index off the bore. It has happened that gunsmiths and machinists alike have threaded barrels with the diameter turned down indexed off the outer diameter of the barrel. If it hadn't happened in the past it wouldn't be worth pointing out. Assumption is the mother of all...well you know.Yes, a machinist will know this.
