I have a Butler Creek .920 bull barrel on my 10/22 and love it with the exception of having to rely on a scope to do my shooting. I would like to have a set of iron sights installed on this barrel. Is anyone out there aware of any iron sights that are available for the Ruger 10/22 rifle with the .920 bull barrels? If there is not a specifically designed sight set for this barrel, is anyone aware of anyone who has made an iron sight set work on this type of barrel? I have scoured the internet with no luck so far. Thanks in advance for any information anyone has in regards to this issue.

as far as i know there is nothing available specifically for a bull barrel. i would suggest going to brownell website and looking at their differant sights or better yet getting a catalog. they do list a few sights that mount in the scope mount holes on the reciever and a good gunsmith should be able to drill and tap ya some holes in the end of the barrel for a front sight.

canucksvt,
I have just finished product developement on a .920 barrel adaptor that will allow the use of sights with a 3/8 dovetail. I will post pictures of my Ruger and the sight setup later today. It is pretty slick, no gunsmithing required.

Stafford Sales had quite a few Green Mountain Bull barrels with iron sights w.fiber optic inserts (I think they were williams fire sights)

I had one, ended up selling it because fiber optics picked up too much light and were hard to pickup on paper during the day. Perfect in the evening or early morning. FWIW my eyes are as screwed up as a football bat, and no one else I know had a problem with the sights.

Hey, I finally got the pics ready.
Here is my Ruger with a CoreLite stock and Adams & Bennett barrel with Tech-SIGHTS TSR100 sights mounted using the .920 barrel adaptor that we have developed. It makes an awesome combination.

Tech-SIGHTS mounted on Ruger 10/22 carbine. You get the look and feel of a M1 carbine using the standard barrel set up.

Check out our web site http://www.Tech-SIGHTS.com

I hope this gives you some options, we are very excited about these sights and the adaptor piece. One of our goals when we started Tech-SIGHTS was to help get more people involved with the shooting sports so we have created affordable quality products that will help get individuals get setup for shooting without a lot of money up front. So many individuals never get to experience the enjoyment of firearms and the shooting sports. The only slant they get is from the liberal antigun media and hollywood. The more we can get to experience the positive side of firearms, the more people we get on our side protecting our liberties. I guess I have gone to preaching so I'll quit.

Thanks,
Larry

I can't see the picture :( but I'm looking forward to this adaptor! Seems like a few months ago I started wondering the same thing, and so did a bunch of other people at the same time.

It's a shame how we all recommend a .22 as a great first rifle, but so many of them have crappy stamped sheet metal iron sights.
