My Rem 700

I did what many here recommend against and I traded a gun off for another one. In this case I swapped an AK47 for the 700...... and I'm glad as hell I did Don't get me wrong now I liked the AK and I understand that there are plenty of y'all out there that wouldn't dare do such a thing as to trade a firearm. To me this trade was to fill a role in the arsenal that I don't have and did't have the cash to buy. I could have saved up and gotten it later but I found a good deal and went for it. Also I had two brass burners AR & AK and was looking for something a little more precise at further distances.

All this came on the rifle with a round count of 91, only thing it needs now is a lil better trigger.

Took it to the range today and this is what I did @ 100yds 5 shots with Black Hills Match Ammo.

Did the same thing right after with a three shot group but dead center after moving a click left (if you look at it the right way rotate 90 to the right). Any body know what sort of powder BH uses? I'm gonna start loading for this thing hopefully soon.

This is my first center fire bolt rifle that Ive actually sat at a bench with and did some shooting. The other groups where a little loose compared to these guys but hey I'm learnin. The nice thing was i was improving with every group.
Just tried to keep in mind breathing, hold and squeeze the trigger. I had a blast at it too! Ive had perma grin on my face all day.

I will give the trigger more time for sure, not in a hurry to go spending money when I think trigger time is really what i need.

I'm thinking the same thing, I did trade an Arsenal SGL 21, a good AK but dollar to dollar I think I did well.

I do plan on taking it out to my normal range, family land, where I have a safe downhill spot out to 250 yds. This is do to land orientation, neighboring houses, trees, etc. I do plan on cutting a shooting path threw some trees to stretch out to about 3-400 estimate. I went to the 100yd range to have the cover and a nice bench to sit at to get her dialed in. There is a range a little over an hour away from me that goes out to 500 but with no spotting scope they'd be having to go cold for me quite often so I could go check my target, lol. ( spotting scope on wish list)

I was shooting 168gr Black Hills match, right out of the box. This seemed to do the best for me out of the three I tried; black hills, federal match & hornady match all 168. I did notice also that the black hills punch nice neat holes where the other two were a little bit sloppier. The projectile itself looks the same in all three, I'm suspecting Sierra matchking but not positive. Im wondering if the BH has a more concentric tension on the neck yielding a better flight path = better accuracy. Measuring will be needed to confirm theory.

I believe the twist on the 20" tacticals is 1:10, looked on he barrel, maybe I'm blind but I didn't see it.

I like the stock too, and I think midway has them right now for just under $300, not free but not the most expensive either.

When I do start loading I'm thinking of going heavier with a 175 gr. or so.... I've read that varget and RL 15 are also good powders for the .308.
