Gun, Ammo, or me?

Spent an afternoon with friends shooting a variety of guns... pistols and long guns. Had some disappointment with my SR9c, and not sure where to place the blame.

This is the first outing since field stripped and cleaned (nearly 1000 rounds without a single failure till today). I had picked up 200 rounds of WWB 115 gr FMJ at Walmart. Have shot WWB previously without issue. ALL DAY I had at least one, sometimes several rounds fail to fire from each mag. Comparing the primer to other casings, it didn't look like a light strike, but I really don't have experience to tell the difference.

One of my buddies had a box of Federal 115 FMJs (what I usually buy if available), and I emptied a magazine of those without any problems.

Bad ammo? Lousy cleaning job?

I wouldn't let this deter you from getting the gun. I'm not convinced at all that the gun is at fault. As I said... 1000 trouble free rounds till now. Only difference... I usually wait a few hundred rounds between cleaning and this was the first time at the range since it's recent cleaning.

I'll shop around and find some different ammo to try later this week. If the problem persists, then I'll disassemble the striker and clean it. I field stripped it and it does seem to have collected some lube.

I was hoping so find some advice on what to look for on the cartridge for light strikes. As I said, I couldn't see much difference in the casings that did fire. Also... I reloaded most of the misfired cartridges and they shot fine second time through the gun.

Wow... must have been the heat, but what a difference that would've made! Dunno where my brain was, but no I didn't think of that.

Have you removed the striker and cleaned the striker channel? Sometimes if crud builds up in there it slows down the speed of the striker going forward to the point it doesn't have enough "umph" to reliably ignite the primer. If you havent, remove the striker and clean it and the channel really well. Use minimal if any lube when you reassemble it.

Been browsing around the 'net and I'm starting to think that's the issue. Did look like there was some cleaner in the striker channel. I'll take it down tonight, then get back to the range later this week.
