Glock 26 "Looseness" at beginning of slide racking

Was looking at a gen 3 Glock 26 (NIB) and noticed when racking the slide that there was very little tension in the first 1/8th inch or so of the pull (when pulling the slide to the rear). The slide went back into battery every time but that first 1/8th inch of travel is definately "looser" that the rest of the travel on the slide. Is this typical of the sub compact Glocks?

p.s. There was no ammunition in the mag or chamber if that makes any difference.
 
I just tried my Glock 36, it didn't feel loose at all. The length of travel was the same tightness throughout.
 
I just bought a new recent-production gen 3 Glock 26 and it's as tight as a vault. The first 1/8" of movement will be slightly easier because it "stacks" a bit before the barrel pops down. Just part of the action, but it's not exactly loose. You still have to grab it with some authority and pull to get it to start moving. I think it gets harder as the slide moves to the rear because of the spring assembly not having a linear compression curve. Again, likely to be part of the design. Nothing to worry about though.
 
Hey ColdDay, do you like that 36 of yours? Been thinking about getting the 26 a sibling for OWB carry (found out my new state allows this).
 
I checked my G19 last night and found that if the trigger was reset (ready to fire position) that there was some slight "looseness" to the beginning of the slide retraction very similar to what I saw in the G26 I was looking at. When the trigger had been "fired" that "looseness" was gone. Don't know if that was true of the 26 as I didn't get a chance to dry fire it. I'm guessing that what I noticed was probably normal. I may go check out the 26 again and take a little closer look this time.

Perhaps this is the result of the striker spring pushing against the recoil spring over that distance.
