Hmmm, striking the Hughes Amendment is always a tempting target on the national level.

More locally, you could take a ride and help out the guys at MSI with their fight.

Hughes Amendment may be tough (those EVIL machineguns! Think of the children!!)

922(r) may be easier. I was actually thinking of this in the shower this morning. Its an old decrepted law that refrecnes expired law (AWB) and the possesseion of a gun made from foreign parts results in a high felony. What?

What if they made the same rule for electronics? It'd be madness.

922(r) needs to geo. From there we MAY be able to take a stand against Hughes. If not, we can use the same sneaky tactics that put Hughes there to begin with...

As for VA, CAMPUS CARRY DAMMIT. You wouldnt beleive how much it sucks having to go 3/4 of your week unarmed because you're not allowed to carry on campus (George Mason specif.)

I'll agree on 922(r). It greatly complicates buying a foreign weapon that you wish to upgrade, IMO, and needlessly so.

922(r) is a good suggestion.

Also, removing the sporting purposes clause as it appears the ATF is making outlandish claims based on it once again.

A third, more ambitious, option would be moving silencers from NFA Title 2, and putting them under the same regulations needed to spell handguns; eg NICS check, 4473, etc.

Remove as many Federal gun control laws as possible in DC. The Second Amendment directly applies and there is no excuse for allowing the existence any of the hurdles to gun ownership and carry.

Then you should add the right to keep and bear arms to the California constitution. You will own guns only at the whim of the legislature until you do.

I think focusing on suppressors would be worth while. I know I would like to own one without jumping through a bunch of hoops and paying a huge fee to the government. Many people suffer from hearing loss in their later years and it can be a significant cost to medicare and medicaid. Perhaps this could be an angle for reason.

I think you'd have a better chance at getting rid of 922(r) than laws regarding silencers.

By 922r do you mean just that particular section about assembling from parts or do you want to address the ATF regs that inform it, or the broader issues of 925 (d)(3), or "the sporting purposes test" which informs it. All of them are pretty closely related.

For what its worth I would much rather see federal laws for suppressors reformed. 922r is a really stupid law, but it is pretty easy to comply with and is less costly to end users than needless regulations on suppressors.

For a local issue I would look to expanding the places one can legally carry with a permit. A good model is Utah. There are very few places one cannot carry legally. Basically the limits are secured areas, churches who chose to preclude it, and then places the feds control. Schools, bars, and other places off limits in other states are legal. There are to the best of my knowledge no issues in Utah allowing carry in these places which helps to show the restrictions are pointless. When I worked for my states legislature I know what other states had done and their results were often given a lot of weight in policy discussions.

Doesn't it strike anyone else as odd that someone else tell you what to believe passionately enough in to advocate for? OK, I can believe that you are passionate about all RKBA issues, but still this makes you resemble a would-be professional lobbyist. A distinction I would not personally aspire to.

We in IL can always use the help...where daily RKBA is infringed.

Get rid of 922(r).
Get rid of the "Gun Free School Zone"
Get rid of the domestic violence misdemeanor gun prohibition. You can get a domestic violence misdemeanor for a lot of nitnoid things that have nothing to do with violence.
Plus, a misdemeanor should NEVER bar one from owning a gun.
In fact, a felony should NEVER bar one from owning a gun.

All gun control laws are in direct violation of the Constitution of the United States of America.
Until we can abolish ALL of them, the three I've listed would be a great start.

IOW, get rid of all gun laws that were foisted upon us by Daddy Boosh and Slick Willy.

While you're at it, get rid of that Klinton BS that made the Striker 12, USAS 12, and Streetsweeper considered to be AOWs.

How bout getting rid of the 10 pound trigger pull laws and the 10 round magazine capacity laws...

My vote would go for Campus Carry. Striking down the de facto bans via "administrative rules" or "codes of conduct" would set a good precedent, too.
