Anybody forego the newer hardware for something classic? WW2? Cold war? I ask because I've become quite partial to my '44 Beretta 1935. It's rugged, tight and extremely reliable. I've carried other relics in the past and thought I'd ask for some of your preferences.

I recently sold a -very- nice 1914 Mauser Pocket Pistol in 32acp to a very nice lady from TX. She intended it as her pocket/purse carry ... and it will fill that job quite nicely!

Colt 1903. Lots of drawbacks compared to newer offerings but slick as snot, hell-fer-accurate and reliable as the day is long. I have two jackets with sew-ins done by my sister just for that sweety and first started carrying it for the above reasons and availability of ammo O-CONUS.

I've posted this before, but there are times when whimsy wins out and I'll carry.

It's not all that old as it is a repro. But the design is 162 years old, so I doubt you'll get much older, in .44 caliber unless you carry a Patterson or Walker. And, the Patterson and the Walker are a bit large to conceal.

I generally carry older handguns (meaning 1930's to 1960's) by preference, most being revolvers. I have used them for decades and know they are as reliable as any piece of machinery can be. They also lack the "internal roughness" that is so common in CNC produced frames and other parts. Time and use have reduced the double-action trigger pulls to perfect smoothness.

Last but not least, in the highly unlikely event that at some future time one might appear on the evidence table in a court room none of them will attract any special attention.

Right now my carry gun is a Walther P1, but I don't another handgun. I'm saving up for a cz 82 though, and a tt 33 with the 9mm conversion also seems like a good carry weapon.

I carry whatever I feel most comfortable with. I practice the most with my Glocks, so they end up taking the ride most of the time. If I had a good, reliable old piece, I wouldn't hesitate carrying it though, I just don't happen to have one.

I regularly carry a Smith Model 10 made in '67 and have carried a Model 28 from '54. Lately I also carry a brand new Springfield Milspec, which is an old design of course.

For some reason, I have a higher confidence level in the old steel than the new plastic (which I've carried too). Probably just psychological.

When my dad died in 2010, he left behind two guns that had served him during a brief stint as a deputy sheriff in the 1980's. One was a Ruger Service Six, circa 1976, and the other is a Charter Arms Undercover 38 from about ten years earlier (which dates it as the same age as me.)
Though I have no issues carrying a modern gun, and my EDC is a Kel-Tec PF9, I do frequently strap one of those instead. But, it's more out of nostalgia (for both him and the guns' design) than out of a lack of faith in newer guns.

overnment Model(1941).

One of my carry guns is a Colt LW Government Model that is about three years old but I also carry a Colt Agent(1969), a Smith Model 60(1973) and a Colt Government Model(1941). I do lean toward the older guns.:)
