.380 With the Least Recoil

I've never shot one, the only .380 I've ever shot is my LCP, but I understand a Bersa .380 is fairly heavy and probably doesn't have much recoil.

Of the few I've tried, the Sig P238 is definitely the best. Easily beats guns like the LCP, P3AT, and Bodyguard .380.

Haven't met anyone who can't handle shooting my 238.

Try the Browning BDA/Beretta 84 (Same gun) in .380. Mid size frame, 13+1 capacity, hand filling and easy to shoot with mild recoil. Bunches of them on Gunbroker right now.

The Bersa doesn't feel bad at all, it is my favorite .380 to shoot at the range. The Thunder+ (15rd) has even less recoil but its a bit wider. CZ 83 isalso a soft shooter. As far as the pocketgun .380s I would have to say the Colt Mustang or Sig 238.

As a general rule the heavier it is the lighter the recoilwill seem.

+1 for the BDA/84. Wonderfully balanced and comfortable in the hand, hardly any recoil at all.

Probably the only 380 I've shot is a Beretta 84, I've put maybe 150 rounds through my buddy's. It was super accurate and recoil felt like a .22. It's not a pocket pistol, though.

I owned a steel framed Bersa 383 in the early nineties. Sold it to a buddie's wife who was working in a liquor store, after the store got robbed while she was working.
I regret selling that one. It was a great little pistol.

The second 380 handgun with the least amount of recoil is the H&K P7K3 - which I believe has the same gas-retards blowback system as the P7M8 / PSP

in polymer it absolutely is the Walther PK380. (note, not the PPK)

CZ 83 and Beretta 84. Probably give the edge to the Beretta but it would be close. The 83 is still a blowback pistol so you still get that snap.

Walther PP also has low recoil, nice pointability

I think the new SIG P250 .380 would be a soft shooter since it is about the same size as the Beretta 84's/Bersa's but is locked breach and not blow back.

Generically speaking look for .380's with a locked breech. Kahr, Colt, Sig etc.

Any blow back model, PPK etc, will have a lot more snap.

We still have a custom tweaked Colt Pony Pocketlite. My wife took it right after I had a Smith in NC tweak it. I haven't seen it since. She loves it because it is so easy to shoot.

You would pay too much for a Colt Pony today to make it worth having.

So my next choice would be a little Sig. Go here http://www.chuckhawks.com/compared_380_pistols.htm for the model because Sig does also make a blowback model. I have never fired one but according to Chuck Colt sold the tooling to Sig for the locked breech version.

I'm not sure the point of the post. This is how I see the issues. If you want really low felt recoil in .380 then yes shoot a heavier weighted gun. Try the full size versions as others have mentioned. The felt recoil will be less. Now the point of the .380 is to have a smaller package for CCW and the like. To that end the Bersa, or my old Browning DBA, or similer sized guns all have very manageble recoil for male or female. If you are just recoil sensitive then maybe a 22 is the way to go.

Not sure about the lightweight mustangs, but the older all steel colt mustangs felt like shooting a .22!

I had a chance to shoot a Walther PK380 and of all the 380's I've owned or shot that ranks number one in my book for lowest felt recoil.

The Sig P238 also has very light felt recoil.

I've fired a Makarov .380 (heavy steel frame) and an LCP, and come to think of it, the LCP had less perceived recoil (blow-back, vs. locked breach).
