Thinking about making the jump

I dunno, if someone doesn't want to play along with a 'what should I do' thread, maybe they should just remain silent.

As far as trading off three excellent .357's for a Delta Elite, I wouldn't do it. I would hold on to at least one .357 and the Mark II. The rest of the trade ins should get you most of what you want.

I like the idea of a dedicated 1911 frame for a top notch .22 conversion.

If you sold a couple guns on Gunbroker like the Dan Wesson, you could do better than just trading them in at your LGS.

well, maybe. Sometimes it depends on one's mood, sometimes it depends on how many times this same thread had come up in the last week. While I agree, one should try to "play nice", I kinda have similar feelings towards these type of threads as SaxonPig. Folks knowledgeable enough to own a plenitude of firearms or to have $3500(such as the I have $3500, what gun should I get? threads) should know themselves what they truly need or want. Asking total strangers to spend your money for you is not what I advise most folks. Seems the answers most folks give is what they themselves own as if it's justifies their owning it somehow.

Just because you carry doesn't mean you have to take turns carrying every different handgun or configuration you own.

Therefore, not every single handgun has to have a holster. Just decide which one or two types fit and shoot best for your CCW, and keep everything else in its own soft case for range or HD use.

1911s ain't for me. I don't really even like the things. Nothing about 'em appeals to me. I've owned two, gave up for lent.

I'd rather go all revolver but then I still hate 1911's after the crap Uncle Sam issued me.

I'd Keep the .357 revolvers

The .357 Magnum cartridge outclasses the harder-to-find 10mm.

Sounds like you have a plan, all those guns you sell will cost a lot more when you get bored and buy them back......

I'd also keep the G22 & 23. They are fine carry pieces.

Honestly? Sell both .22s, buy a 1911 frame and the Marvel upper. Then get the combination to a good bullseye smith for a trigger job. Performance-wise, the Marvel conversion is head and shoulders above plinker-grade rimfires.

If all these guns get shot, I wouldn't sell any of them. If there's a gun you have a need for, just buy it. I think of my pistols/revolvers as either essential or fun. The essentials are my S&W Model-19 4", Model-29 6", CZ PCR 9mm, & Ruger Mk II. Fun guns are Colt Python 6", S&W 686 sith Millet red dot and BSquare mounts, S&W Model-17, Colt New Police 4' made in 1932, Kimber Custom Defender II .45 ACP, etc,etc. I could get by with just the esentials but that wouldn't be near as much fun.

Ya' know, I don't look at these threads as if the OP can't figure out what to do, but as if he's looking to see if anybody puts any new ideas on the table.

Re-reading the original post, my advice would be to maybe consider Glock 21 and 36, to share ammo w/ the 1911. The manual of arms is pretty similar between a Glock carried with a round in the chamber, and a double action revolver.

No flippin' safety lever to worry about... just "point and click".

As far as whether or not to sell the other guns, I can't really be a judge. For me, I'm more interested in "shooter" quality firearms than "pristine" ones that I don't want to get dirty at a gun range. So, the prices on my pieces have ranged from $125 (FEG PA-63) to $650 (Browning Hi Power) - nothing expensive. I s'pose I could sell several and buy one more valuable piece, but my interest lies in buying more ammo and shooting more.

So, the advice you'll get from this guy who carries a Glock and has a BHP and a Colt revolver as range toys is to carry a Glock and keep your other guns as enjoyment pieces...
