That is 100% correct. If you have the bullet button in Cal, you can have a 30 round mag...I think.
Incorrect.
To run over 10 round mags, the rifle would have to be featureless (no pistol grip, flash hider, bayonet lug, collapsible stock, forward grip, thumbhole stock) or it would have to be a RAW=registered assault weapon. The registration period for RAW's has come and gone, so if they had it and registered it they can use it as if we were in a free state, those of us that are new to AR's (me) are screwed. Rimfire rifles are not considered assault weapons so we can have all the evil features on them without a bullet button.
Here is the flowchart for Komnifornia residents to use, to determine if their rifle would be legal:

Here is a pic of my BB. The screw inside can be loosened to allow the mag to be dropped without a tool, IF I am in a free state or I run a rimfire upper. Right now, that button will not move with my finger.
Here is a pic of the other side of my rifle. I installed a UBML by TC, Ultimate Bilateral Magazine Lock by Thordsen Customs. It adds a second bullet button to the left side of the receiver.
To reload:
I hold the rifle with my right hand on the grip and index finger next to the trigger.
grab a loaded Magpul Pmag with my left hand and use the nub (Ultimate Bullet Button Tool) on the mag to drop the empty mag from the rifle.
flip new mag over and insert into mag well.
Place left hand back on hand guard, while releasing the bolt by pushing down on the Magpul BAD lever with my trigger finger.
I plan to use this rifle for 3 gun competition. This is the best route I know of to run a BB and stay legal in Cali. I don't have a RAW, and a featureless rifle would need a replacement for the grip, such as a hammer head.
Mags over 10 rounds were banned in 2000. If a Cali resident owned them prior to that date, then they can use them. The problem is that a rifle with a fixed magazine that has a capacity of over 10 rounds, is an assault weapon in Cali.
New gun owners likely would not have legal mags over 10 rounds and they would not have a RAW.
Did I confuse you guys from the USA yet? We are like a different country here. It is more like Northern Mexico, than Southern California. I would hate to leave the home I know, but I would also love to get out of this crap hole of a state.
Some of the anti-gun people in the government should watch a pistol or rifle competition in Cali. There are some very fast shooters here. None of our laws would have prevented the killings that have been on the news. The laws just hinder the honest law abiding gun enthusiasts in Cali (including some law enforcement as well, in their off time).
