Ammo order "unavoidably detained"

Friend of the family has been following the delivery confirmation of some recently ordered ammunition. Today the shipment status was updated to "unavoidably detained." When he contacted the shipping company their response was simply limited to "sir we are sorry, the only information we have is it that your shipment has been unavoidably detained."

Its not my intention to draw any conclusions yet. I simply wanted to ask if anyone else has run into anything similar?
 
Could be due to weather, I got an email about some I ordered, it stated due to weather though.
 
If my ammo was every "unavoidably detained" I'd "unavoidably liberate it".

Wait and see what happens, could have been a traffic accident or something.
 
I did not *want* to jump to the same conclusions my family friend is. That is why I was asking if any one else had similar experiences. Once is uh, something, twice is coincidence, third time is enemy action. Or so the saying goes. Just trying to get a sample larger than one.
 
I think "delayed" might be a much better word choice vs "detained". I hope so anyways.....
 
I had that with pool chemicals once. The container had busted open. Had to get refunded and re-order. That's the only time I've seen that though.

Obviously the logical answer is the the truck carrying the ammo was also transporting vast quantities of cocaine and illegal immigrants, and after running down a group of nuns crossing the street, the coked up driver got into a gunfight with the cops and used all your ammo. That which he did not use was taken into evidence, along with the cocaine. The immigrants were all given public housing, drivers license and welfare. The nuns managed to avoid significant injury, and no police were harmed in the shoot out.
 
Is it supposed to be funny? I am amused by this kind of stereotype.... if not racism....

back to what OP was saying, what's your carrier? Call their national c/s if they don't have info call the location where the package is at..

It sounds more like problems in transit (weather, broken truck etc.)
 
I was amused for one. I'm not exactly PC though.
I didn't see any actual racism, more of an anti Obama immmigratyion joke in my not at all humble but highly stupid opinion. Cheers!
Uh, a severe fat fingered typo that really doesn't help me any but I'm leaving intact as penance for my sin of laughing at the response I mildly stood up for.
Im aware I most likely suck.

It means that the guys at the warehouse where it was being loaded onto another truck "accidentally " hit it with a forklift which damaged the packaging and spilling all the ammunition onto the floor.
 
Sort of hard to guess exactly what "unavoidably detained" means in this case. I have had orders delayed for numerous reasons with the largest likely being weather conditions. Modes of transportation fail on occasion also. So without knowing all the details like the carrier, point of origin, and other facts I guess it's anyone's guess what "unavoidably detained" actually means.

Midway is no longer shipping ammo to New York residents, as I am reading on various gun forums from New York members.

No one is, as it is now illegal in that state.
 
Unavoidably detained can include a whole host of problems the occur during shipping. The shipper has it and cannot get it to the destination for some reason. It could be weather, computer glitch, vehicle drove off a bridge into the lake with your package, vehcile was in an accident and packages scattered across the highway (see where this has happened before), etc.

Funny how when I mention illegal immigrants, you think of an ethnic group.

Now if I had specifically mentioned an ethnic group, it could be labelled as racist. If you want to know, I was thinking about Canadians. :rolleyes:
