Possible to still find FNP 9MM?

Saw a FNX at my LGS yesterday. Sorry I don't remember the price. Maybe $429 or $529?

As far as I could tell, a slight change in the grip so you need different mags, although you get a couple of extra rounds.

Glock managed to come up with an ambi design where existing mags could be modified and new mags were compatible with both old and new guns.
IMHO ambi mag release is ridiculous as shooting lefty the trigger finger works the right handed "thumb" release just fine. I generally do about 25% of my shooting left handed and I've often though about "reversing" the reversible thumb mag releases because my trigger finger generally works the button better than my thumb does. I'd probably do it if all my pistols were reversible, buts since they are not, it'd be too confusing overall.
Giving them a non-malicious benefit of the doubt, I'd accept the extra rounds capacity as the "reason".
Main difference is the FNP is decocker only.
The FNX has a repositioned ambidextrous decocker/safety (repositioned, unfortunately, to right where the first knuckle of your thumb would probably like to be). The mag release and slide release are also ambi.
Also, the bore axis is reportedly lower in the FNX.
I like my FNX quite a bit, but IMO the safety/decocker lever is seriously flawed. It's uncomfortable. The gun can't be decocked with your trigger finger on the side of the slide, cuz the other side of the lever will just push on your hand. The lever is floppy plastic. The right side lever is known to shear completely off if used frequently (say, by a left-hander) or if it catches on something (since it simply hovers over the side of the gun, instead of being inset or protected in any way).

Not true, there were also "three-way" up for cocked and locked, and down past off-safe for decock versions. I have one.
You aren't talking about the FNP 45ACP? That came out after the FNP-9, and it's basically the first "FNX." It operates in a similar manner an FNX-9/40. I guess there's also the FNP-USG. But that's an FNP-USG. 
OP: another minor difference is the FNP grip adaptors are secured with a screw. The FNX grip adaptors lock in with a little plastic tab, and a lot of people complained about it not fitting as securely. It moves up/down a little bit, if you press hard enough. The FNX also has more aggressive checking on the optional panels.
If you get the FNP, try to round up some mags before they dry up. If that's even possible, at this point. Last year, they could be had much cheaper than FNX mags, anyway.

The FNP-9 is DA/SA. They also made an FNP-9 that was DAO. They also made an FNP-9 USG that was DA/SA that could be carried with the hammer locked back. I've been told there was a SAO model too, but I've never seen one.
A former coworker bought a NIB standard FNP-9 last fall at a gun show for $330. It's a fine gun, although it feels pretty small compared to my FNP-45 USG.

The FNP 9 USG and FNP 40 USG both had decocker/saftey and also had forward serations on the slide...I too have an FNP 40 USG

For what it's worth, I absolutely loved my FNP-9. Mine was all black, decocker, DA/SA, no safety. First semi-auto I ever owned, and was an amazing bedside/truck/range gun for me for years. No malfunctions of any kind.
