Hey guys I was just on FN USA'S website and seen that they're making a fnx-45 compact. I have a fnp-45, which is my favorite pistol, and had always wished they made a compact version for CC. I guess my wish was answered lol! I guess the fnx is the fnp replacement, I don't know what the difference's are but i think improved ergos for sure. Does anyone know when the compact is to be released? I assume its not yet because I can't find one for sale anywhere online.

Does anyone have experience with ANY of the FN pistols???

I've the FNP-9 and FNP-45 "Tactical". Both have the cocked and locked option. I think they are great pistols, my main complaint is its too easy to push the safety past fire to decock (not so much with the FNP-45).

They gouge for spare mags, almost as bad as does HK

I run the FNP-45 the most using my Osprey45 suppressor its a great combination. The FNP-9 I got at a closeout price, just too good a deal to pass up. Neither has had any failures in the first few hundred rounds, the FNP-45 has seen about 500 rounds, the FNP-9 about 200.

I have shot the FNP-9 and the FNP-45 USG. The best way I can describe it is the unhold offspring of a glock and a sig...But I liked it!

I have the FNX 40 with about 900 rounds down the pipe. Perfect so far including the so called break in period. Wished I'd picked up the 9mm version as well.

I've got an older FN in 40 S&W and never had a problem with it. Mags are high as someone already mentioned. My wife wants the FNX9 for herself and I'm thinking about either getting one for myself or the 40 version. FN makes very good guns and makes them in the USA.

I have the fnp45, mostly curious what the difference is between the fnp and the fnx. I'm glad you guys all liked the ones you've shot, I love mine. I actually just picked up a Five-seveN too. The mags are spendy but its nice you get 3 with the gun. I usually don't need more than 3 or 4 myself.

You know I had this exact same question, and I found the statement below, which someone supposedly received from FHN after posing them this very question.

"The FNX-45 will look and feel very similar to the FNP-45. Most of the design enhancements were mechanical for improved reliability and endurance. The FNX-45 will come with 3 magazines (new design and not compatible with the FNP), all 3 will be 15 round like the current Tactical and Competition. The pricing should be similar to the FNP-45."

I was under the impression that the FNP was already very durable - what could they have done? Their response doesn't seem to answer much, except that the old FNP mag's wont work, which is a shame. Would have helped lower magazine prices.

Interesting. I agree as I've only had one FTF with my fnp45 and it was because of a dud round I think and the round count is just over 750. I wonder what was "wrong" with the fnp to bring out the fnx. Either way I'm glad they'll be releasing a compact version of the 45, I was almost ready to pick up another g36 (sold my first one) but I'm glad I haven't yet. I also like the hk45 CT but at over $1000 and how hard they are to find, ill pass for now.

Shot a FNP a couple of years ago and I should of bought it. Fit my medium sized hands very well and it shot great. Love the capacity of the mags.

If the new FNX-45 mags won't fit in the old FNP-45 pistols that will be a disaster. I have a FNP-45 Tactical and right now you can't find the 15rd mags anywhere. I like to pick up at least two more mags for it. Hopefully FNH will continue to make the old mags as well as the new ones.

I think you are mistaken. The FNX-45 is simply an updated version of the FNP-45. Not a compact at all I am afraid, would be nice though. On a side note, which holo sights will fit onto that dedicated space on the slide out of the box?

We are all talking about this one, right?

The count - there will be 3 different FNX-45 models i believe. The regular one (usg i think) the tactical version (the one you posted a pic of) and the compact version. They are making the fnx-45 in compact but it hasn't been released yet. Its on their website. I'd also like to get the tactical version but its much more expensive so I might just get an aftermarket threaded barrel for the compact once I pick one up.

I know when the FNP-45 came out, they had issues with the trigger pin sliding out and locking up the action. They also had issues with the magazines, where the space on the inside (front to back) was not long enough to reliably function with WWB .45, or any slightly out of spec ammunition where the OAL was too long.

I don't know if these issues were already addressed with later FNP-45s, but if they haven't been yet, I would hope that the FNX-45 fixes them.

Balance 740 you're right about the fnp mags and winchester white box ammo. I found that one out on my first range trip. Im sure they fixed that with the fnx and thats why the mags between fnp and fnx aren't interchangeable. I just run Remington UMC for practice ammo now and its actually a better deal than the WWB in my part of town anyway. I can get a 250 round box of 230 grain fmj Remington UMC for only $89.
