Petition to White House

Problem is, most of them probably don't know the difference.

Do you understand what you are "petitioning" for? You are asking the WH for a response on your petition. That's it. It's not a voter ballot to make something happen. Its just a request for a resonse from the WH. Usefull on an issue they haven't given an exact position on before.
All you can get from this is a statement from the WH about thier position on AW. That's it. We already know thier position, so why are you asking them about it?

This is not a poll to get the WH to CHANGE thier position. You are just asking for a response. A million signitures will not get them to change to what you ask. (they will close it soon after it gets to 100k anyway)

Infringing on 1st Amendment protected rights is not a good strategy when advocating for the 2nd.

But that is exactly what these White House petitions do. NOTHING.

Poorly written petition. And it effectively states that full-auto or burst rifles are NOT protected by the 2nd amendment.

I'll pass. Good luck though.

It wouldn't matter if they were prohibited from using the terms "assault rifle" and "assault weapon". They would just start using other terms with negative connotations. Like "weapons of war", or "killing machines".

Oh, wait... they already do that.
