I am having a brain fart at the store right now. Is 250 savage the same as 250_3000 as far as cartarage in concerned. This is going to be shot in a model 99 savage.

I like it when things work out so well. Black and White. :)

Oh yeah and I am really jealous. I would dearly love to have just what you have. I used to see those ads in Guns and Ammo for the model 99 and I've wanted one ever since.

Not to throw sand in your face... I have one of those in my safe. My Pop had gotten it from a friend of his, when Pop passed on, I got it. Its about 97%, shoots 87 gr. bullets like a laser, a truly super cartridge and this one is accurate beyond belief ! I also have Pop's .300 '99 in the safe too, Mom had given it to him in '47, special rifle, very accurate also.

There's a gun show in Tipton Indiana. It was the gun show I grew up going to with my dad. I am heading up there April 13. I was up there about 10 years ago maybe. It has the most lever action guns I've ever seen in one place. Lots of old guns. I think there were like 3 Glocks at the whole show. Maybe 25 handguns total. Table after table of cool old rifles of every sort.

Looking forward to it greatly. May find a Savage 99 *said with crossed finger*

ya I was rather embarrassed to even ask. My boy and I were at a little gun shop that doesn't look like it has been walked into for 40 years. They had ammo with 1/2 of dust on it. When I was talking to the old man he said he let his f.f.l. go 30 some years ago or more and only sold black powder, ammo, some fishing stuff and some reloading stuff. Then all of a sudden my boy goes, dad they got 38-55. I couldn't believe it, all of a sudden I see 25-32 win, and a box of 32-40. He goes on to tell me that his dad had some old savages and I talked of the ones I had passed onto me while I was getting that ammo. Then my boy comes up with 22-250 and 250 sav. I knew the 22-250 wasn't gunna work but just had a "lapse" in memory on the 250. I am rather lucky that my great great uncle collected guns and not women because my brothers and I have multiple examples of the model 99's and 1899's. I enjoy shooting all guns but sure love those old levers. The gun that generations of my family hunted with and still being used by my sons and hopefully theirs too. (or daughters, doesn't matter to me). My personal favorite is the 300 savage and the 22 hy power. But that is only cus those are the ones I shot the most. Ironically the rifel I hunted with the most is a sproterised Krag that has a crisp 800 lbs trigger pull....man that thing can teach a person patients.

Anyways thanks for the help guys and reading my rant....

HoosierQ,

There is a guy I know that has 3 Sav. '99's for sale, .243, .300 and a 22 Hi Power. I think he wants $500 for the .300, $800 for the .22 Hi Power, not sure on the ,243 though. If you lived closer, might be able to talk him down some. Hope you can find something you'll take home from the gun show in your area, lets hope!
