I live in Texas. It's progun and all but one Rep appears pro gun. Most people I interact with are of the same opinions.
If your in a strong 2A state how do we turn the tide in weak 2A states?

I invite any potential political candidates with spotless records who are ProFirearm to move to CT and infiltrate the political ranks.

That would help. What about organizing pro2A rallies or sponsoring education? If 50.5% of the people get to speak for 100% of the population, I wanna be that 50.5%.

Boycott all business and commercial affiliations with companies and individuals living in ban states. They need to get the message that it's not okay.

First you have to understand where the population growth in the United States has come from over the past 30 years. In 1980 the U S population was approximately 227 million and if no one immigrated to the United States since then, we would still be at about that same 227 million because those residents have continued to maintain a Zero Population Growth. The trouble is the current population is approximately 314 million, an 87 million increase.

The vast majority of those immigrants came from countries what were either ravaged by a long history of wars, dictators, or where gun ownership was illegal or were pretty much non existent in the hands of the general population.

Those are the citizens that need to be targeted and the vast majority are not only educated but have seen first hand what weapons can or cannot do to a country. Those from the middle east see the ravages of war on a daily basis, those from the Asian Pacific come from a culture where violence is pretty much non existent, because their grand parents and parents saw first hand the ravages of war. and those from south of the border see first hand what happens when dictators and gangs rule the land.

The scare tactics won't work on them so a rational approach is needed. The trouble is the rational approach is being drowned out by scare tactics.

just my thoughts,

Al

I agree with the "hit them where it hurts" tactic.

Political and economic impacts from oppression take their toll over time.

While a small sample, it's no small surprise that from 1995 to 2000, the exodus of population from California was to predominantly pro-gun states. Meanwhile, it's interesting to note that the only INFLUX of people was from another anti-gun state, New York.

Namely:

Nevada - 138,600
Arizona - 93,700
Texas - 66,900
Oregon - 64,200
Washington - 60,100
Colorado - 55,300

North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida (all VERY pro gun) also made the "top 10 migration" list.

The net effect was over the course of 5 years California had a net population loss of 542,900 ALL TO PRO GUN STATES.

Interesting, isn't it?

Especially when you also find that the state went from prosperous to BANKRUPT shortly after that mass exodus.

No, Albert, you're dead wrong here. Putting economic pressure on a state IS a valid tactic. A damned effective one at that.

I am starting to email state tourism and chamber of commerce' s in these anti states and I tell them I am not coming to visit or do business over this and that I will encourage all I know to do likewise.

We need to convince the HEADS of the various state Rifle & Pistol associations to send official notice to New York that they're being boycotted by gun owners in that state.

That'll get their attention. One or two e-mails might get noticed.

But saying "Our membership of x00,000 stands united against your oppression" ... that might get their attention.

We've lost too many states, time to quit jabbering about it and do something that'll stick it where it hurts.

I think that the power of social media shouldn't be underestimated. I often talk to friends in states under fire, and post arguments when they mention something that shows ignorance. They know that I won't just let things slide. (And yes, some of them ARE in Texas.)

Generating a lot of discussion in multiple places, and especially on Facebook, et al, about boycotting tourism in Colorado, California, etc., because of their anti-gun stances may have a telling effect. You can always ski in Utah, kids to Disney in gun friendly Florida, etc. Economics are precarious enough everywhere these days that I suspect that a decent amount of smoke in this line of thought will be enough to provoke some real discussion in the states looking at some sort of tourist boycott.

Colorado is probably the most liable to break on this, though, given that California can probably always rely on drawing people to its unique venues, same for NYC, but Colorado doesn't bring much to the table that you can't get in UT, MT, or WY, in terms of tourist experience.
