0000 buckshot

If you'd tried Ninja-grade Tactical Extreme Ultrabuck Dragonfire Operator ammo, maybe you'd have had better results.

You may want to go to 00 buck, 9 pelts of 32 caliber shot. I am using Royal Buck which is rated at 1,345 FPS. Or just go to 3 inch shells if you gun will handle it.

I've tried to handload 0000 buck and it's a very poor fit in a 12 gauge hull. To make 8 pellets fit in a 2-3/4" hull, they must have had to drastically reduce the charge, hence the light recoil.

I'm going to try to adapt some 3" loads into a 3.5" hull and see if I can get a decent pattern out of it.

0000 Buck was designed for 10 gauge. It fits at 2 pellets per layer, provided you use no shotcup. It doesn't fit in 12 gauge no matter how you stack it.

I think some minor functionary saw the company name "Dixie Slugs" and assumed everything they make is a slug round. If there are no state regulation restricting the actual size of buckshot pellets, then any round with three or more pellets and so marked as buckshot by the manufacturer should be legal in a buckshot only area. I don't work for the company but have successfully used Dixie Tri-ball Buckshot on Alabama wildlife management area hunts restricted to buckshot with no problems from the game wardens.

SAAMI Voluntary Industry Standards are not even binding on member companies.

Here is the definition of Buckshot from a major Lead Products Comany

I learned a long time ago to get a copy of the state game law/regulation book, (not the summary books loaded with advertising), and rely on that for regulatory information. Yes, I keep a copy in my 4x4 when hunting.

Has the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department since issued a published regulatory definition of buckshot for all hunters using Texas Wildlife Management Areas?

If it is not on the Tx parks and wildlife website or in the printed Manuel I Don't care what that email says cause it just some employee's opinion.
