Where do you live? And why?

I live in Central CA wish to relocate to a FREE State soon.

Italy

L.A. (Lower Alabama) Raised a fine family here and plan to be buried here one day.
Mild winters and have learned to tolerate the summer heat. Great hunting and fishing and close to the Gulf of Mexico. Oh, and we have the most awesome SEC College Football !!!

My great-great grandfather walked here(SE ILL) from Ohio in 1852, bought this farm, and walked back to Ohio to bring his family. I still have the rifle that he carried on this journey.

My great (3X) grandmother on my mothers side was discovered in a barrel on a flatboat traveling on the Ohio river. She was raised by the family that found her, and took their name.

Over the 5-6 generations of farmers...we have accumulated enough land for my sons and I to make a living farming. That is why I am here. Otherwise I would be in Alaska or Canada probably operating heavy machinery or trucks.

Northeast Georgia, currently, but grew up on Daytona beach, FL. Lived in Wasilla for a couple of years when Sarah was mayor. Loved it up there. Miss it, but enjoying the foothills now.

Lucky Me

Born in Illinois, 1950, moved to Montana at age 12, thank you mom and dad. Lived mostly in very rural Montana and Wyoming till I was 30, fishing, shooting, hiking, hunting, off road motorcycle riding and raising general heck. Got my official B.S. certificate from Montana State University, Bozeman, in 1980. From 77 to 86 archaeology jobs moved me around to 16 states (AL, AZ, CO, FL, ID, IL, LA, MS, MT, NM, ND, NV, TX, UT, WA, WY). Liked most of them, met good people in all of them. Came to Arizona for an 8 month job in 1986 and they haven't let me go yet. Like Phoenix, nicest city I've lived in, and no snow, NO SNOW! Arizona is a great state, desert, forests, mountains, rivers, lakes and not too many people, most of them nicely clumped. Gun laws are few and places to shoot are many. There are many places in AZ were you can still find the beauty of solitude.

Central MS. Because it's home... and, we don't have winter.

I was born in NC, and have lived here ever since. The weather here is reasonable, if you disregard the occasional hurricane. We don't have any stupid knife laws, and very good gun laws. The only strange gun laws are caused by the ability of the Sheriff of the county to control some aspects. Many years ago, I lived in Orange County. The Sheriff in office at that time restricted pistol permits to one per person, per lifetime. That was forty years ago, and I assume it has been changed. Some Sheriffs will issue Class III permits, some won't.

I live in Canada, having been born and raised in Val Verde County, west Tx.

Why here? Coz this is what I do every day (when there's no ice...)

Live in Florida cause I like to fish.................That`a it.

Texas, out in the woods, where I was born and where I'll die. No income tax, decent gun laws, great hunting and fishing (salt or fresh), and my range is in my back yard. Nuf said? See, I'm where the city people wanna bug out to when the SHTF, for those who don't hunt. Literally, there are a lot of absentee land owners around here, some just to get out of the city (about 90 miles from Houston), some for deer season, some I'm sure to have as a bug out destination. Land prices are kinda high, but this place was a HUD foreclosure and we got it CHEAP! We're retired here, lovin' life. I feel God has truly blessed us.

Mmm, beautiful, but cold and I own 26 handguns I ain't givin' up to da man!

Born in Brighton In the UK. Moved here to Sweden over 10 years ago.

Can and do shoot the rifle in the garden. Can't plant anything in the garden because the moose and the roe deer eat everything. Growing population of wild boar as well.
Can't wait till the cooler weather starts. Roe buck season starts on the 16th and then a full season of Duck, pheasant, moose, deer and Boar hunting. Life is good

Skoghund, sounds familiar only change the roe deer and moose to whitetail and the wild boar to feral hogs (a plague). I love my duck and goose hunting and live right down the road from some of the best goose hunting in North America around Eagle Lake, Texas. I have public marsh not too far away, too. Life is grand.

I just love stories like this one^^^...it warms my heart and restores my faith in humanity.

I'am a California boy. Live in Orange County (just south of Los Angeles). We sail and are ocean-beach people. (life long lifestyle). One kid left at home; 4 up and out (college, careers, most married).

We enjoy our beach and sailing lifestyle and have some of our grown kids in the area. (2 grandkids as well). My wife and I own a home in Thailand and plan on spending about 4 months a year living there when we retire in the coming years. (good food, great beaches, low cost and nice people).

We plan to stay in Southern California for now.

I live in S.E. Ohio. Been in Logan all my life. Met my wife several years ago. She was living in Tallmadge. When we got married she came down here.
This part of Ohio is pretty gun friendly. I frequent a shooting range in Union Furnace that is owned by Hocking County Fish and Game Association. It's a nice range with 2 small pistol ranges a rim fire range, 200 yd rifle range with 5 or 6 benches and were putting in a shotgun range soon! The people who run it are nice and helpful and for the most part the members are pleasant too.
Only thing I'd like to see changed here in Ohio is the crazy 30 rd magazine capacity limit! I'd love to one day own a 1919a4 and would like to be able to have as many rounds on the belt as I very well please! We've thought about moving to the Akron area in the next year or two but were not sure just yet.

My wife on otoh is from St. Croix USVI! Not too gun friendly but a BEAUTIFUL place to visit! Long story as to why she's here but we went there for our honeymoon last year and it was great!

I'm in a suburban area more than an hour outside of Chicago. I have a kid in college out of state (upper Midwest) and another who's a senior in high school, headed for a southern state for college. I have lots of family nearby (local and Wisconsin), but we will probably gravitate toward my kids. At this point, neither is crazy about Illinois. It's a constant discussion at home about whether we plan without considering the kids, or wait until they stabilize, which could take ten years (if ever!). I will be probably working FT for another ten+ years, so we have a little time.

Freedom

I live in the north east corner of Wy. I moved here 3 years ago to work in the coal mines. I came here from IL. where I lived all of my life except for the 1st 3 months when I was born in Tx. I drove a truck for almost 20 years and have been every where. I love it out here and jumped at the chance to move out here. I love the freedoms that I am allowed to enjoy that were imposable in IL. And the beauty of the land.

I live on a farm here in eastern N.C. that my grandfather started.. We went from just a few pigs on the ground to having 16,000 nursery pigs now when we are full. We raise just over 100,000 nursery pigs per year. This farm has put food on my table and a roof over my head for as long as I could remember and I hope to keep it going just as my father and uncle have. One good thing about having pigs is that we have decent sized coastal bermuda fields to spray waste water on.. They also double as shooting ranges... LOL.. I've got several AR500 plates out in the coastal field behind my home that I shoot from my back porch. I've been a few places but never really lived anywhere but here and I guess this is where I'll be if anybody needs me... Its gonna be a great place to raise my 2 kids and teach them to shoot and hunt.

I admire you for the nerve to pull up stakes and make a big move like that. Some ppl choose to live in some unsavory places for little reason...why? .....life is too short for that

I live in Las Vegas. I live for living in Las Vegas. I love "steppin' out" to do virtually anything I want to 24/7 and I often do but it isn't the reason I targeted Las Vegas and will never leave Las Vegas. These are the reasons I live in Las Vegas:

Great, now I'm homesick for someplace I've never been. My Dad is always talking about going to California to see the ruins of the old Spanish missions. Now I'm tempted to go with him as far as Nevada.

Half of anything you could dream of is in my back yard and the other half is half a days hike, bike, climb or motorcycle ride away. In about 2 more weeks the 9 month long outdoor recreation season starts and I'm chomping on the bit for it.
