CNN again

Available this fall...more like last fall, and the belt fed upper is available at PSA.
Oh No! A link to another article says that a $27,000 rifle can hit targets at 1,000 yards! I can do it for a hell of a lot cheaper.....

I say let 'em have it. Bump firing is a perfect decoy. The do-goodniks probably think it's the cat's meow of shooting guns. Give them something to do, while we keep and preserve what really matters.

I used to really like CNN, but lately it's been a crapshoot on whether a story is well-researched or not. I'm a research scientist, so not only do I get to be frustrated about gun-related articles, I get to be angry about mis-reporting scientific details too. The joke is that if you look at their "top stories", it was all "The Krispy Kreme Diet?!?!" and "What will Miley Cyrus do next?!?!" sensationalist bull. Media these days, both left-oriented and right-oriented, is pretty sad.

Slide Fire is about to get a bunch of business. From me, for starters. Now how do I decide between altering another Ruger 10/22, my SW MP 15-22, or, knowing that the end cost of ammo is greater, a Saiga kit?

CNN is struggling for attention. It has to reinvent itself to survive. So it will entertain and exploit agendas. Who cares! The hard core newscast is gone with the wind.

Anderson Cooper and Anthony Bourdain are about the only CNN people whom I can stand. The rest are nothing more than hack excuses for journalists.

Why, Larry King is on the Russian government controlled channel now. Who wants to bet that Piers Morgan is not heading to Al Jazeera?

Pulled off of Yahoo:

Slide Fire, based in Moran, Texas, plans to sell a semiautomatic rifle that mimics the rapid fire of a machine gun and is also fed bullets from a belt, which provides a huge capacity for ammunition -- potentially thousands of rounds.

The company also sells semiautomatic rifles that have already been accessorized for bump-fire, costing between $1,150 to $1,950. But these guns use magazines, not belts, and thus have limited ammo capacity.

Wow. So let me get this straight. So now the latest 'evil thing' is those nasty 'belt fed' guns that hold thousands  of rounds, and not those 'nice' 30 round magazines?

These clowns really are just swinging at pinatas and chasing cars...

This is how they've won in the past. Divide and conquer. Luckily enough of us now won't stand for ANY more infringements on our Rights.

Do you have an example of how they won in the past, for this particular reason?

In the end I know which side I am on. It may be difficult, however, to defend something so idiotic as bump firing. We'd look like hopeless nuts to the voters. What may be popular on these pages can be a laughing stock to the public. I don't really care to debate this. I think it wise to choose your battles if you want to win a cultural war.

I can't see a lot in common between bump firing and the import of adult firearms. The ban was a protective trade measure. Those foreign countries do not import and sell a lot of American firearms.

My point is that back then, it was something that didn't have a direct affect on the majority of gun owners. Nobody's coming after my old -06, so it's not my concern... The sporting purpose thing is still used by anti (gun, constitution, ...). Read in your best yankee: "You don't need 10 rounds to kill a deear."

How is bumpfiring difficult to defend? It has been used in zero crimes. It is responsible for zero reported accidents. It doesn't affect suicide at all. Pretty much the only thing it is used for is to fling 50 cent pieces downrange at ~$300/minute in order to entertain people.

Similar devices have been around forever - the AMF Activator, the Hellfire trigger, etc. Never used in crimes because they have zero practical use. And how would you outlaw bumpfiring anyway? You can bumpfire a 1911 with your thumb and a pair of pants with belt loops. Are they going to outlaw pants?
