1 Mile Shot

id love to be able to practice some shooting at that kind of range.. no way in hell my mosin nagant would be able to handle that at 2MOA though... time for that 8mm mauser ive been wanting :D

it looks like most these ranges seem to be way out in the desert.. i wonder if thats legal to go way out on public land for targets at that kind of range?.. i didnt think it would be.. but yeah, id love a range to take some shots of 8mm downrange and see if i can hit anything
 
The spot I go to out in the desert, we set up targets out to 2000 yards and have the ability to go further. We have a mountain as a backstop so we don't worry about what's behind the target. With the range and all the trails, mines... We do keep a spotter on dirtbike patrol, we had a guy ride past our 1500 yard target once. Could only imagine the look on his face if the bike took a hit from a .50, so yeah we keep a look out.

It's great to have the place to do it, when I hit our 1 mile target I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. I thought 1000 yards was fun but when you go further it just adds to the fun level, achievement of hitting a target that far...

My goal is now the 2000 yard target, you have to bring your A game, good ammo and a clear head.

Depending on the local LE if the land is out in county nobody care I shoot on public and government land all the time. The Game Wardens come and talk to me alot to make sure I'm not hunting and I'm being safe.
 
thats interesting.. i should find out some more local information and see if there are any places i can do that.. im right on the boarder of quite a large expanse of wilderness, but, a lot of it will be trees.. now i wish i still lived in AZ
 
Interesting to see the .308 AR with an 18" barrel reach out to a mile. *PING!* I've heard so many people give their thoughts on the range .308 (and the .223 and every other caliber) regarding the "limitations" of such rounds.
 
850 yard range near me, and I managed to hit an 800 yard target with a (highly modified) Mosin Nagant. Not that difficult with a faster-velocity 7mm08, but the Mosin (with my modest loadings) fires at a slower velocity....requires FIFTY moa adjustment to get to 800....
