Grips by Recover Tactical for 1911

Haven't and likely wouldn't.

The obvious drawback to this design would be the limited ability to find a holster that would fit the much thicker dustcover.

I don't personally want a rail on my 1911 and a adding a hooked trigger guard just tells me that the designer doesn't have a good understanding of how pistols are used

I was discussing them with a group the other day on facebook. The plus side is, they are non-permanent. You can try them and if you don't like them, it's no hard feelings.

But yeah, to me it would mostly be.....another gun that doesn't fit most of my holsters. I doubt it would even work in my M-12s.

The way I look at this, if you want a light on a 1911 that sits on a nightstand and doesn't see holster use, it might not be a bad solution. It's relatively cheap and non-permanent.

Looking at the pics, that simply may have been a result of them wanting to put a screw there.

Interesting concept but just seems to blocky and bulky to me. I like the M1911 design just the way it is without the rail.

If you need a rail on your 1911, this is the easiest way to do it. Won't win you any points with the purists, but if it does what you want it to, then whatever.

Nope never give Ugly a new meaning. Makes a thin pistol thicker and affects holster fit and a rail can be added to your 1911 if its a most have it.

I think they look hideous. If you like them by all means go ahead. IMO it makes the 1911 like a plastic fantastic pistol.

I'll bet we'll see these show up in Avatar 2. They appear to be nicely molded.

A Bad idea in my opinion however.

Besides ugly, the front strap is shortened, maybe too short for the pinky finger???

One of the nicest aspects of the 1911 design is its pointability w/o needing to use sights out to 7-10yds; it appears this style grip upsets that function. I also wonder if the frame will rock w/I the grip.

Not everyone can afford to just buy another gun. If I had one 1911 and needed a rail, I'd rather use this and not get into the 1911 cool kids club than spend another $800-$1500 on a new one.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but in my eyes this is one of the ugliest and jury-rigged looking things I've ever seen. The 1911 is a beautiful pistol. Some modern pistols follow "function over form" and that's fine, but to intentionally make the 1911 as ugly as a polymer wonder-nine is just puzzling.

Yeah, it's pretty ugly, and probably changes the feel of the grip quote a bit.

But, it does look like it serves a useful purpose, and looks like a pretty innovative way of adding a rail to a 1911. But I think I'd look at the other options, first. There's one that attaches through the slide stop hole that looks decent. I think Surefire makes it.

I can actually see a limited role for a set of these as a means to add a light to one of my many 1911s that does not have a rail so as to make it more suitable as a bedside gun. That being said my concern is that the grips make the 1911 grip thicker, a huge issue for me. I like the concept better than the Surefire version that uses the slide stop pin as I am not sure using the slide stop pin as a lever is a good idea.

For $50, I may try one. The idea of a skin for the frame of a 1911 intrigues me.

I would have to shoot a 1911 with one before I could say its good or bad. The feel of a 1911 is the reason its still so well liked and preferred amongst other things. If they could keep the grip panels thin but durable I think it's cool. Like previously posted it's not permanent
