The Individual event in Biathlon is a real shooting race. A miss adds one minute to the athlete's time. Four misses hurt XXX, very badly. He was 3 minutes and 50 seconds out of the Gold.
I really liked the format of this race vs. the other races. It puts more emphasis on the shooting aspect instead of the shooting just being an interruption of the skiing. Really pays to slow down and make your shots count.
Great to see that Lowell Bailey finished so well considering the US doesn't have a strong presence in Biathlon. And to see Erik Lesser take silver was nice; if the Americans are not in medal contention then I kinda root for the Germans since I've got German heritage.

I would have to czech the stats but one of the NBC common taters said the Germans and Austrians tend to be the strongest shooters in Biathlon. Lesser making the podium seems in line with that.
