Received the engraved (Michael Gouse) 1911 back from Anthony Durning ("Durning Defense Custom") Thursday.
Anthony serrated the slide top, installed EGW bushing (the original was barely "finger tight) and flush cut/crowned barrel. The pistol was Hard Chromed by Metaloy.
I had previously changed out the trigger-for short, MS housing for S&A arched magwell that I blended to frame, Dawson FO front sight (it's a range gun) and trigger work.
I felt an EL Paso, floral carved, "Ranger" rig was in order-to complete the "Bar-B-Que" gun theme.

Dialed in and "dirtied up" at the range:

Very nice job on that one.
I saw a bit a few years ago on tv where SASS founder, Judge Roy Bean (Harper Creigh) was given a fully engraved Colt SSA. worth a lot of money. He decided he could store it carefully in the safe, bringing it out every now and then to admire it a few minutes before carefully putting it back.

OR

He could shoot it regularly at the SASS matches and enjoy it much more often than if he left it in the safe all the time.

(Maybe it was a pair of Colts, but the story is the same)

Outstanding! Glad you shoot it. It'll look even better once it wears a bit.

Mr. Durning is doing some exceptional work by any measure and that Baer is solid proof. I like the way you smoked your BBQ, huntershooter, it's meant to be shot. I couldn't pull off the look of that leather (which looks awesome) but by all means, Cowboy Up! Very nice all-round!

OK, I believe that is the nicest BBQ rig I have ever seen. What is especially impressive to me is that you started with a high quality and practical pistol like the Baer, and do shoot it. Well done sir!

Why would you NOT shoot it, guys? A little bit of honest wear adds to the character..... I have a factory engraved gun with Ivory grips that I got from Les as a retirement present and I shoot it now and then.
Huntershooter, I see from the LB prefix on the frame that your gun is a regular carbon steel frame. Do you plan on blueing it? Rust can be a problem on those sandblasted areas. It would be a shame to screw up that beautiful engraving.
