So, thanks to the History Channel , I now have seax lust.
Are there any decent and useable examples out there for sale at an affordable price?
I have looked at KOA for the axes and see they also have seax knives for sale but was wondering if they were any good or just props..?

But this is a gun forum, so it needs a gun :) That, and today's "swords" are AR-15s.

Thanks to all who gave me info and direction for finding a seax knife. I shall check them out in the future.
Now, back to our usually scheduled "thread drift"...
;) :D

BTW,nice photo tom.

I just realized while looking for a reasonable seax knife that I already own one. It's called a Kar98k bayonet.

Seriously, look at the blade shape. got this reproduction from IMA, would make a dandy seax if I could dismount the locking lug metal from the tang.. looks like it's brazed on.

Swords were sidearms: main battle weapons would be spears and projectile weapons like bows.

I'm about 95% certain your particular 98k bayonet has had the point ground down at some point, probably because the tip got broken off. The point appears a little too close to the fuller, and all the K98k bayonets I have ever seen didn't have that much drop to the point. The point was usually in line with the exact middle of the blade, not closer to the edge.

So while yours might make a passable seax, an original one wouldn't look all that close.

Me too.

I didn't find anything that really floated my boat so I just started making one.

Something like this:

Call it a techno saex.

I'll finish it up over the next couple days.
