Beretta Neos found today

I was once again left unsupervised for a brief period and mistakenly walked into a Pawnshop thinking it was a store that sold auto parts and groceries. Well, there among the tools was a Beretta Nano 22 with a Bushnell (working) red dot that seemed in need of a good home, asking $350. I offered $300 and received a handshake in return.

So, the Nano has a good home. I know zero about these guns but it certainly appears to be as well built as any of my other 22 pistols. I wish it had a threaded barrel but it does not, so be it. Came with the manual, red dot, 2 mags and a decent plastic case.

It really feels just right to hand, I'm hoping it shoots as well. The bore is bright with crisp spirals, the gun looks as it has been shot very little. Trigger is OK, on the better side of average. Thought I'd share a couple pictures and maybe hear some stories about the gun from the good folks here at THR.

np, I didn't know the name and thought it might have been a discontinued gun and the name resurrected.
 
They're a good range gun. Some have been fussy about what ammo is used. We have only taken ours out a few times. The only time it had problems, was when I over tightened the break-down nut. You do that and it puts a bind on the slide and it won't cycle properly. The magazine release is awkward to push. But it is a range gun, and not for SD.

With the red dot, I'd say you got a good deal. :)

BTW, early production had a recall on them. Look it up on Beretta's website. They may still list the S.N.'s involved.

It's very cool to have a rail on an entry level pistol. It gives the average person a chance to try out optics without diving in a couple thousand deep! I did the same thing with mine.. red dot for optics. Spot on accurate at pistol distance, and mine ate anything I put in it, even Thunderbolts and Peters'. Good find at the pawn shop.
 
I have a couple, and they are a good, accurate, reliable pistol. I really like that Beretta offers a Carbine Kit for the NEOS pistol. They are hard to come by, but I was lucky, and got one on Ebay for $200. Makes a neat little carbine, and very accurate. Jim Pixley will thread your Neos if you really want to suppress one.

The Neos is a great value. I bought one for my wife years ago and it has been completely reliable with everything we've tried in it. They aren't given half of the respect they deserve despite being optic ready, having a carbine kit, and easily changeable barrels and grips.

They're solid guns and the only real problem I have is the trigger could be better. They're also considerably easier to take down than most plinking .22lr pistols.

Nice find on the Neos. Decent buy for the money on a well designed and built .22 auto. The magazines are great too and easy to load.
 
I've had 2.
First one was stolen.
Went out and got a new one.
It's a fantastic plinker and range gun.
first one had a 2X scope on it. Drilled 2" holes at 25 yards
Put a red dot on the second.

Thanks for the tip, this one needs the recall, Beretta will be picking it up tomorrow.

I did replace the miserable front sight,,,
With the fiber optic sight that mike94jy mentioned.

My flash turned the fiber rod to orange,,,
In reality it's a nice ruby red.

I replaced the sight on both of my 4.5" barrels,,,
One is red and the other is green,,,
Personally, I prefer the green.

I also replaced the tube scope on the 6" barrel,,,
With a middle of the road reflex optic,,,
The tube scope had bad balance.

With the red dot you got yours for about the right price,,,
Now get out there and slay some feral tin cans.

Congrats! I'm sure you'll enjoy the gun. But buying the gun is the easy part, anybody can do that. Try finding the ammo.

Ammo is surprisingly easy to find around here. I could have bought 5000 rounds last week if I needed to. Not cheap mind you, but reasonable.
 
You caused my heart to skip a beat when I opened this thread. I couldn't figure out where the hell I lost my NEOS, since yours is set up exactly the same as mine.
 
I like 22 target shooting. I had a Neos for a year or two, sold it to buy a Walther SP-22 (NOT the P22 plinker). It shoots well too but it's been boxed ever since I bought a used Ruger MKIII 6-7/8" Target model, tapered barrel. Perfect balance, reliable. I'll shoot the Walther because it looks cool but prefer the Ruger because it IS cool.

I had one when they first came out. I miss those days. Cheap .22 ammo that was always in full supply. You could spend all day at the range with $20 worth of ammo and still have some to bring home.
The Neos is a very nice pistol. You found a gun that you will enjoy shooting for years to come. Congrats.
 
I enjoyed mine. They are a fun range gun. My Rugers are more accurate, so shot those more often & finally sold my Neos. More than once, while cleaning the Neos, I'd be pushing the rod, and when the brush would clear the muzzle, and suddenly there was no resistance, my hand would fly forward, and that feed ramp would take a hunk out of my hand. Be cautious.

I have one that I bought years ago for my sons to shoot. It's a "small hand friendly" sized grip. It's been very reliable. I've always rated the NEOS as a best buy in the .22lr world. I can't say I'd have jumped on the deal though. A new Beretta still goes for around $225 when on sale around here and $250 or so anytime.
 
Got an email from UPS saying the Neos will be back in my hands tomorrow from Beretta, fast work on the firing pin recall :)
