I just finished the last of my Tula 223 primers.
It appears as tho they're not available.

I like CCI primers, but their Small Rifle NATO #41 seems to be really expensive.

So my question is simple.
Whatcha usin' & why?

Thanks.

CCI 450 There cheaper than the 41 and still seem plenty hard enough to run in the AR.

450 and #41 use the same cup according to cci. Good to go in floating floating firing pin applications. I got a few doubles when using cci400.

Just picked up 2k of CCI 400s at the local shop for $34.95/1,000. I've had no problems with CCI and, like has been said here before, they're cheaper. Be safe, and have fun.

+1 on the CCI 400s. I've had good luck with them. They are easy to find and have given me no problems in the last 1600 rounds

I use in this order:
CCI#41
CCI450
Rem 7 1/2
CCI400
WSRP

Just a note, the CCI#41 primers use a compound which is less sensitive than "normal" primers, bit standard and magnum.

I've reloaded and shot several thousand rounds of .223 in my AR loaded with CCI 400 Primers. Never an issue.

I decided to use CCI 450 primers when I began loading for my AR. They are harder than the 400 and I just felt it might be safer without spending the extra money for their #41. I have never had a problem. I do have friends that use 400s and have never had any issues.

Most people don't have problems using CCI 400 primers and when they do, probably 75% are caused by not seating them deep enough. I've seen a slamfire that occurred with commercial .223 ammo and I don't really want to experience one myself so I use 41's and 34's just for that extra measure of protection which they will provide. My LGS sells all CCI primers for the same price (too much) anyway.

Although I have never experienced a slam fire, I want to avoid them as best as I can. I am often able to find Remington 7-1/2. Sometimes CCI 450 and once in a blue moon, I'll find the CCI 41.

Ever wonder which primers Winchester uses in their 223 ammunition? I would imagine their srp primers, but I have no idea.

I have used CCI 400, CCI 450, CCI BR4, Wolf(Tula) KVB223, Remington 71/2, Winchester WSR and Federal 205 ... never had any problems with any slam fires or other ...

I should add that another reason I use CCI 450 is I also load for 6.5 Grendel and it seems to like the magnum primers. Its just easer to use the same primer for both.

Only slam fire problems I have ever had was with one box of factory 6.5 which I had a slam fire and several doubles. Never had a slam fire in my 5.56.
