Between these two revolvers which one is the more accurate capable gun?
Are those 2 extra shots you get in the Smith 627 worth the cost over the GP-100?I have owned and shot both, I would give a slight edge (and I mean very slight) to the 627. My best groups with the 627 was 2.25", and with the gp100 was about 2.5" at 25 yards. Realistically both guns are more accurate than I am, and if I had been shooting off hand I likely would not have been able to declare one truly more accurate than the other.

????Accidental post. Please ignore.
I would have t hought the 6 inch barrel would have an edge on the 5 inch barrel as far as accuracy goes..While I don't own a Smith, I have used a very tuned 686. I
I own two GPs, one is 4" blue the other 6" SS.
I would give the Smith 5% on fit/finish advantage.
The tuned 686 I used belonged to a competition shooter
and had a pro trigger job.
Both my GPs have my trigger job. The Smith owner got to fire both
my GPs and was surprised. told me he could not tell the difference in trigger.
That said, STOCK, the Smith is a better trigger. It is easy to do a Ruger
tuneup with no spring changes needed.
Handle them both, fire both if you can, buy what you like the most.

Sounds like a winner to me. Isn't the S & W 627 a larger frame than the GP-100 frame?I can't speak for the Smith, and I'm sure they're fine guns… but having owned both a 4" and 6" GP100, I'd definitely go with the Ruger, preferably 6 inch. They're awesome, durable, beautiful, accurate revolvers!

So the N frame is compatible to the size of the Redhawk? If so then the 627 is a very large revolver.Yes, it is an N frame (gp100 is l frame sized), it's comparable to a ruger redhawk.
