That link is to a 10 round mag, the CMI at 44mag.com are standard 20 rounders, and MUCH more desirable IMO.

Saigas are AK's. Sure you have to tweak them a little to get them back to military trim, but they remain the best value in the AK category, IMO.

I've got the 410 Tamer from H&R, and it goes with me camping and hiking every time. The great thing about the 410 is that you can carry several different types of ammo, and all together it still weighs nearly nothing. In short, they are great guns.

I'm a fan of the 410. I bring one hiking and camping every time out. I'm also a big fan of the AK platform, and of Saigas. That said, I just don't see the need for a Saiga 410, especially for somebody who you don't even know yet. In the end, if you want it, get it. Don't make excuses...

+1 on going back to the original mag. I had a roommate who just had to mod his SKS for more than 10 rounds. It never worked right, and he sold it eventually. I've had a few that I left stock and they have all been flawless.

I got one in similar shape for $200 not too long ago. It was gently used and well cared for. For one that is NIB, still in the cosmoline, I'd be willing to go no higher than $300. For $300 you can get an unissued Yugo.

You said M44, right? Did you fire it with the bayonet in or out? My groups with my M44 are literally half the size when the bayonet is extended. You may get some funny looks at the range, but swing that baby out and see how your rifle groups then. I'd lay money on it that it will shoot better.
