    Pt 111 g2

I also have an older PT111 - circa 1999. Trigger could be better, but that is my only complaint. It is still my carry weapon. The only trouble I have had out of it was when I tried to run some steel cased ammo through it. Not a good experience. Feeding jams, extraction jams, and then a...

    The Marlin 1894 Club

Leather? I'm not sure, I couldn't find any markings on it. I think I got it at Gander Mountain, but I'm not positive. I was just flipping through a Cabelas catalog and they have one that looks very similiar - the model is called "Military Sling"

    The Marlin 1894 Club

I want to play! I took this buck in 2008 w/ my Marlin 1894C using 180 gr Hornaday XTPs at a distance of ~20 yards. He went ~100 yds uphill and dropped. This guy was taken in 2009 and was taken using the same rifle and load at a distance of about 40 yards. He mule kicked and went about 5...

    Optic recommendations for AR

I'm looking a Redfield 2-7x33 scope for my M&P 15. If you are looking for a higher magnification, Redfield has a 4-12x40. Redfields are made in the USA, and are owned by Leupold, with Leupold's warranty. It is my understanding the biggest difference between Redfield an Leupold is that...

    Best Lever Action?

Marlin 1894C. Using 180 grain Hornady XTPs, I've put a couple of nice bucks in the freezer. I recently put a Millett red dot on it to be able to stay in the stand until the end of legal shooting hours. The iron sights left a little to be desired in the woods.

A wife says "So what is different about THIS gun?"

I once came home from a gun show with a Taurus .357 Magnum with 4" barrel. I told her what I bought, and she said something along the lines of, "Don't you already have a .357?" And she was right - I had a snubbie Taurus .357 and Marlin 1894 chambered in .357. The way she said it implied she...

Things not to do in Indy--armed robbery

The news report I saw last night indicated the store owner was well known in the area to always carry - then it showed IPD using a metal detector in the yard of the place across the street trying to find stray bullets :banghead: Oh well, I guess Chief Spears can't win them all...

Marlin 1894C hard to find in N. Virginia

No, I haven't. I received it last Thursday, and cleaned it Friday (the loading spring was coated with the nasty grease). When I put it back together, I broke the loading spring screw. :cuss: I talked to Marlin Monday and they are suppose to ship me a new screw free of charge. Hopefully, I...

IMO this is what is killing big game hunting

I thought the same thing - for $13 grand, I expect more than a hand drawn map that doesn't have a scale or north arrow!

Ballistics Questions .357 Magnum Vs. .223

The reason for the law (at least in Indiana) is the distance that the bullet will travel. It is so flat around here, a miss or an irresponsible shot with a rifle could result in the bullet ending up in someone's house, car, or someone, etc... The heavy handgun bullet (.357 mag w/ 4" barrel or...

Do you take your infants / toddlers to the range?

Idiot. He needs to take his parenting responsibilities seriously and sacrifice his play time. My kids (2.5 and 11 months) stay at the house w/ Mom, G-ma, G-pa, Aunt, or etc... while I/we go shooting. It won't be too much longer and my 2.5 yr can come w/ us and shoot the .22, but she...
