What do you keep on the nightstand?

On my nightstand: S&W M&P .45 ACP w/CT laser grips, spare 10rd mag & small (but bright!) flashlight Next to wife's nightstand: keypad handgun safe w/S&W M&P 9mm w/CT laser grips & spare 17rd mag. Residential security container (unlocked when home) in bedroom: Colt 6920 & Remington 870 in...

Possible changes to Virginia CCW reciprocity.

This change is pretty horrible, so not defending it here...but as I understand it, VA is revoking reciprocity for states where a citizen would be denied a permit if a resident of VA, whether or not the permitting process is easier or harder in those other states. And just based on that, I too...

    History question

I think it's true for Soviet 82mm mortars using USA/NATO 81mm mortar rounds, and that's about it. I heard as much when active duty USMC (1987-2008), but never researched it myself until just now...

Why Do People Say South Carolina is Gun Friendly?

I think OP is saying he's just lost the job he's had for the last 15 years. Actually, I'm surprised nobody has suggested OP review those sites too. My preference is http://www.handgunlaw.us.

Why Do People Say South Carolina is Gun Friendly?

Thread Summary: A: "Sure, my state has some things we should change, but they're no big deal. Your state though...OMG...not gun friendly at all." B: "Nuh-uh. My state is fine; yours is bad." A: "No way." B: "Yes way." :neener:

Why Do People Say South Carolina is Gun Friendly?

I do...unless my activities include entering federal property, such as a military base or VA hospital, etc. Although properly posted signs prohibiting weapons do have force of law, few places attempt to so post, and some of those get it wrong anyway (so their signs do not have force of law)...

Why Do People Say South Carolina is Gun Friendly?

Agreed, and that's kinda my point. I don't like some of the sillier restrictions in SC, but I think this is an odd one on which to base this thread's title. The trends here (and in nearby states) are generally favorable to RKBA. I'm curious whether OR & WA residents feel the same about trends...

Why Do People Say South Carolina is Gun Friendly?

While I agree this is a dumb law, it's almost as silly to hold it up as an example of SC's reputation for RKBA-friendliness being undeserved. All laws are subject to over-enforcement. With this law in effect, I could disarm before leaving home, and my neighbor could still accuse me of carrying...

Why Do People Say South Carolina is Gun Friendly?

It's not hard to pick out the faults in any state's laws regarding the people's RKBA. I moved to SC upon retiring from the Marine Corps eight years ago. Every single year the legislature has improved the state's RKBA-friendliness. Very often the best failed measures one year gain sufficient...

    An Active Killer’s Diary

True, but it's more than that too. Trying not to go OT, but fathers matter. http://thefederalist.com/2015/07/14/guess-which-mass-murderers-came-from-a-fatherless-home/ The article goes on to discuss some of the more notable ill effects of fatherless households, including a possible...

Difference in cost to produce: Glock 17 vs. Marlin Model 60?

Actually, I was interested in the topic, but facts have been sparse. When anything resembling a fact tries to work itself into the thread, you start an argument. I say "resembling a fact" because I am comfortable admitting I lack knowledge in this topic. However, as a father of five, the...

Difference in cost to produce: Glock 17 vs. Marlin Model 60?

Nope, I didn't notice the mistake at all. I never made any claim to know anything about a Marlin 60 or Marlin-anything-else. I assumed you knew what you were talking about...until you kept digging. When 45_auto pointed out your mistake, it further confirmed my growing suspicion that you 1) don't...

Difference in cost to produce: Glock 17 vs. Marlin Model 60?

With the way you've failed to argue logically this week, I'd say his conclusion was reasonable. You noticed the incorrect URL only after it was pointed out to you, so how would anyone know you even knew the difference in the first place? All we have to go on is your performance in this thread.

Difference in cost to produce: Glock 17 vs. Marlin Model 60?

So is it that hard to say, "Oops, I made a mistake" here? How does the fact that 45_auto caught your mistake call into question his credentials as an engineer?
