Are Revolvers inferior to a Glock?

The revolver is so much more versatile there isn't any comparison. It will fire any round that will chamber. No worry about compatible ogives or failure to feed. You can shoot anything from squibs to full power, hollow points and wadcutters included. If it goes click just pull the trigger again...

    9mm?

I vote for the EAA Witness. I have the Compact (12 round). It fits my hand beautifully. I also have 4 S&W and a Taurus PT92 in 9mm but the Witness is the one I go to first. Best buy in service pistols.

seeking feedback on Taurus guns, svc, &c

I have at least a dozen Taurus and have never had any problems with any of them. They have been as reliable as my Colts, Ruger, and S&W.

    9mm vs 45 comparison

The most important factor in performance is shot placement. You get that by using the money you save on the 9mm to practice, practice, practice. Guns are not created perfect. It takes practice to do that.

    38 Special: Penetration vs Expansion

Hydro= water (fluid) Static=immobile "hydrostatic" water is what one finds in a bucket. Static water does not deliver any shock. "Hydros-static shock is the creation of some gun magazine typewriter jockey who wanted to sound 'scientific'.

    38 Special: Penetration vs Expansion

How many were hit by police cars? Perhaps we should put the cops on bicycles. Perhaps we should teach them to check their field of fire. I wonder how many people were subsequently hurt because the cops' bullets pulled another "Miami" and failed to stop the perpetrator in time.

Single Stage vs Turret press for beginners

There are advantages to using the slower method. One is that it keeps you out from under the wife's feet for longer. That alone is enough. I started with C-H alloy press (1960) and over the years have added Bonanza-Co Ax, Rockchucker, Lee C-press, Lee & Hornady & RCBS & Dillon progressives...

Loading the Bullet pointed side in.

Neither the lead or the steel melt. If the lead melted from the pressure the bullet would begin melting in the barrel. The steel flows due to the pressure just like toothpaste flows from a tube. It does NOT melt. Tungsten/uranium cores also do not melt or burn there way through armor plate. They...

Are Revolvers Actually better than Autos?

I don't need to worry about bullet shape with a revolver. Anything that chambers will fire, RN, FN, HP, SP, RB. birdshot, blanks, etc.. I own both . Each has its place but the revolver reigns supreme as to versatility.

    Accuracy: Revolver vs Semi-Auto

"Is the non use of revolvers because of an assumed inaccuracy, or because of lack of revolvers of equal quality to the target grade semi autos? chicken or egg? " It is because it is harder to 'spray and pray' with a revolver.

    is Rossi a good gun?

I have a couple of Rossis including a 971. They have both been solid reliable guns and I have not had one problem. They may not have the status or snob appeal of some other brands and they may not appreciate as much in the future. OTOH I don't need to impress anyone and I buy guns to shoot...

    noob ? about lead bullets

I bought a thousand Speer swaged bullets many years ago. NEVER AGAIN. Even with a light target load they plastered the last three inches of rifling in my 6" revolver so that I couldn't see the riflings and grooves.

.30-30 Pointed Bullet Loads in a Lever Action

Loading the spitzers probably will NOT result in increased velocities. When loaded to the same COL the spitzer will require deep seating thereby reducing effective case capacity. At longer ranges the better BC of the spitzer should make up for the slower muzzle velocity but I never seem to...

Do I need a digital Scale?

Been loading 47 years without a digital scale. Get yourself a good supply of loading trays. Fill them with primed empty cases. Adjust your powder measure and check it against the scale. Fill them all with the powder measure. Tap the trays a few times to settle the powder. If any look...

Physics-type question: what's the longest bullet that can be stabilized?

The general rule of thumb is that maximum bullet length is 6 times bullet diameter. Sectional density has nothing to do with it. The basic rule applies to aluminum bullets as well as tungsten carbide/uranium bullets. All spin stabilized spitzer bullets tend to tumble when fired into water...
