Full size pistol - concealed carry

Your mod. 92A1 might not be "optimal" for carry but it is "optimal" for a gun fight. Let others carry what they want. Who cares what they think. Just thought I'd add that it's either cold or raining here all the time so packing a full size gun, as I do is no problem. If I lived in Arizona I...

    bear hunting gone wrong.

can't get the "quote thing" to work but when I said that black bear attacks are preditory, as in they are looking for something to eat. I am only stating what's posted as information on almost every trailhead that has a bear problem in Alaska. These are put up by the AK fish and game. I have...

    bear hunting gone wrong.

Seems like the pendulum has swung a long ways in the other direction. A .45, a .357, and a .270 for taking people to their hunting blinds. Seems a little much to me.

Staying in a cabin with group of friends, should I tell them?

Don't say a word to anyone. Figure out a way to dress/undress without outing yourself. No reason anyone has to know. I've done the same thing in cabins and on boats.

    What's your favorite autoloader?

How many brands are there? I think that's how many different answers you'll get. Mine is a Browning Hi Power!

What caliber is best for a new gun owner?

Yet another vote for the .22 rimfire. in either rifle or handgun. and about 10 or 20 bulk boxes of ammo. Time they get through that they should have an idea of how to hit what there shooting at. Most of the hunters I know who don't shoot a whole lot can still make amazing shots because they...

    bear hunting gone wrong.

Rozziboy, I think that you more or less have it right as far a brown bear vs. black bear attack. The school of thought is that if attacked by a brown bear they (might) most likely swat you around some, bite some. and leave you alone. Play dead is recomended. They say that if attacked by a...

best suggestion for bear defence pistol/cal

My suggestions in no particular order. Taurus tracker in .44 mag. , it's small, light, not expensive, 5 shot. plenty of gun for what you're doing. A .357 mag. revolver, pick your flavor, Smith,Taurus, Ruger A Glock in 10mm, Again plenty of gun, plenty of shots, plenty reliable. Befor you...

Question for any Vets on target shooting

USMC 82-87 One week live fire every year prior to Qual. Was a range coach for about 2 years. got to shoot a little bit more then but not much. Got invited to try out for the 4th Marine Air Wing rifle team but that would mean another reenlistment. I'd had enough.

Pretend the 223 had never been invented... what caliber for our armed forces?

^^^^no one shot kill gun. Really? I"d like something like a .260 Rem. as far as right out the box. side note. if the .308 is TO BIG. How on gods green earth did we ever win the 2nd WW with that way to long, way to heavy M1 firing a way to over powered round. Did no one ever have to carry...

    Small game gear?

Once you know what the bag limit is for small game you will know how many .22 rounds to bring. (rabbits, bag limit 5, means you need 5 .22 rounds and so on)

What Do You Do After Making The Shot?

Red, You're on the right track as far as being ready to hit em again if they wiggle an ear. Years ago I flattened a little buck with a muzzleloader, got down out of the tree right away to watch it gain it's feet and run off as I dumped powder down the bbl. A mistake I will never make again!

    North America Big Game Rifle

Other than just something to talk about, why would you even think about such stuff. I for one, don't use a 4ft level to pound nails and I would feel equally silly hunting whitetail with my .375 H&H. Get yourself a .260, .30-06 or whatever you like for hunting big game in general and by the time...

    Hi Power Range Session...

Just to let you guys be for warned, the ambi safety from C&S will make the gun very hard to run right handed. I put one on one of my HPs for my left handed wife and now I won't touch it. The lever on the right side of the gun sticks up and a very bad angle so as to make it a finger tip ripper...
