Is 20 acres enough to hunt dove?

Thanks for the replies and advice, guys.

Is 20 acres enough to hunt dove?

That's not really a concern. Virtually all of my neighbors have a pistol berm or stock tank. Not to mention the LEO'S nearby who fire their automatic weapons at least once a month. We're all a bunch of Bitter Clingers out here. Funny, hearing gunshots now as I'm typing this.

Is 20 acres enough to hunt dove?

Well my real question is: how far can #7.5 shot travel down range?

Is 20 acres enough to hunt dove?

That's why I'm not too concerned. One of the tactical bays at the local range is about 150 yards downrange from the skeet shooting area. I've been "rained on" myself. Stings a bit, but no real danger. Thanks for the replies, guys!

Is 20 acres enough to hunt dove?

We're on a 20-acre roughly square parcel in the Texas Hill Country. Perfectly legal for us to fire weapons out here. Also, we're overrun with dove, which our niece is keen to hunt. From the center of the parcel it's about 450 feet to the nearest fence. Assuming 12ga #7.5 shot shells, would it be...

    BLR in 308

I'm literally salivating at the idea of owning one. Trying to figure out the Spousal Unit calculus. Then again, she's got this crush on Tom Selleck, so it's kind of her fault that we were watching the movie to begin with.

Grandad always said there's no shame in being ignorant, just in remaining so. Can't believe I'm pushing 60 and just now discovering these weapons.

Any debate about the pros/cons WRT a straight grip vs pistol grip?

Evidently I don't know everything yet. We were watching Benefit of the Doubt last night. Jesse Stone pulls over the bad guy and finds a lever-action .308 in the trunk. "Where's the magazine?", Stone asks. So right there I'm thinking this is typical Hollywood, knows nothing about firearms...

    What's your deer hunting rifle

My step-dad never used anything but his 1891 7.65 Argentine Mauser with iron sights. His motto was "One shell, one sandwich." That's all he ever took into the woods. I've still got three or four rounds in a very tattered Norma box that have to be 60+ years old. Gave the Mauser to MY step-son...

    Any FNAR fans out there?

Thanks for the responses guys. Not trying to start a food fight. This is one of those times when emotion trumps logic and reason. I fondled an FNAR a while back at a gun show, and it was lust at first sight. I can't justify owning one, I just want it 'cause I want it. And nothing against the...

    Any FNAR fans out there?

I've wanted an FNAR for some time now. As far as I can tell from FN's website, there are two options: the Standard with the 16" barrel, and the Heavy with the 20" barrel. Is that right? Anyone care to weigh in on the pros and cons between the two? Sorry if this has been discussed before. If it...

    Newbie needs Shooting Chrony advice

Much better numbers Good advice, gentlemen. Backed up to 12 feet, took the time to get my bench level and aligned with the chrony, used a bubble level to get the chrony squared away, and used the laser to get dialed in 6 inches above the sensors. String of 10 rounds from the Shield showed...

    What's a "pillow sham"?

My wife said she was going to Bed, Bath and Beyond to buy something called "pillow shams", whatever those are. She came home with a Ruger SP101 .357 Magnum, instead. I didn't know BB&B even sold firearms.
