Best 9mm revolver for EDC -or- just stay with my 357

I have a Ruger SP101 and an S&W M986, both chambered in 9x19. In part they are a range toys but they give me capability to shoot 9x19 ammunition in an emergency. Both use moon clips. When I carry a revolver, it mostly is a 38 Special J-frame. Most of my carry J-frames are machined for moon...

    No Moon Clips

I like moon clips. I have 45 ACP revolvers, a 10 mm revolver, a 9x19 revolver and three J-frames all machined for moon clips. But if Charter Arms 9x19 case extraction system works, then that is great.

    The PPK Lives Again !!!

My Grand dad’s 1908 is in good shape. He bought it in late 1917 before shipping out to France. Since he was an outdoorsman, he cared for the pistol. He passed away in the early 1960’s and the gun went to my mother’s sister’s husband. Uncle Walter was also a surgeon in the Army but served in...

    The PPK Lives Again !!!

I have an S&W PPK chambered in 380 ACP. It is a bit snappy to shoot and a bit heavy. Mine has been 100% reliable with RN bullets. Not so much with designer HP bullets. But, I feel penetration with a 32 cal projectile is more important than hoping the bullet will expand. My Colt 1908 380 ACP...

    The PPK Lives Again !!!

I'd be in for a PPK in 32 ACP. I have a WWII era Walther PP and an Interarms PPK/S, both in 32 ACP. I just need a PPK to round out the collection.

    Light 45 Colt loads

I also use 700-X in 44 Special but also 45 ACP. It works great in those cartridges so it should work well in 45 Colt. My standard 45 Colt load is 8.0 grains of Unique under a 255 grain bullet. Usually a SWC but sometimes an round/flat. I’ve fired a few in my 4” Bond Snake Slayer. It was...

    Are 44 Revolvers Dying?

When push comes to shove, there is alot of performance overlap between various cartridges. Cartridge designers and cartridge/firearms manufacturers are always looking to the holy grail that will yield them that market that will yield them the most dollars for their buck. Hence, we have many...

    Are 44 Revolvers Dying?

44 Magnum is a good hunting round if applied properly. I do lots of back yard plinking and I tend to load my 44 Magnum guns with 44 Special level loads in Magnum cases. Fun shooting. I love the heavy, large diameter, slow moving bullets punching holes in target of opportunity. I love the ring...

An unusual reloading setup? Single stage for sizing/decapping, RCBS Auto Prime, Dillon 5 stage to finish

Primarily for handgun ammunition reloading. Rifle reloading is a variation. I use a Hornady L-N~L press for my resizing, de-priming, and case mouth expanding. I then tumble clean the cases and put them aside for a future loading session. For loading, I may use the Hornady, A Dillon SDB (45...

    Who dislikes/hates the Beretta 92FS/M9?

I have a Beretta 96 (40S&W version of the 92). It is a bit bigger than I like but I can manage it. The gun is as reliable as a light switch.

    Beretta 71, Finally!

Congrats on the new pistol. I have a Model 84, Model 85 (380 ACP) and a Model 81 (32 ACP) versions. The 22LR model would be nice to have.

    Favorite K & N frame Subnose Grips?

I like Pachmayr Presentation grips on my K-frame guns but the round butt frames do not fit well with the current Presentation grips available. Pachmayr Gripper grips are a reasonable substitute. For my N-frames, I shop gun shows for old Presentation grips. I’ve used Compac grips on some of...

    Tree Pruning w 28 Ga

Pruning branches with a 28 ga is fine if it works but I'd think using a less expensive shell/gun, like 12 or 20 ga, would be more prudent regardless of being able to reload the hull. 28 ga is expensive enough and I'm a fan of 28 ga shotguns. The only "pruning" I do with a shotgun is...

Pins come out of 223 brass?

I do not know the diameter or the length of pins I use but I get some pins stuck in the flash holes. I poke them out with a piece of stiff wire that fits in the flash hole. Sounds like @FROGO207 has a good method.
