I have been using the same Midway 1292 tumbler since they replaced my first one because of a recall in the early '90s (the original did not have thermal protection, the replacement did. The original one never failed, was just recalled. They had a few fires from what I was told but anyway I...
My go to was 3.0gr of Bullseye but that is pretty much gone now so I have had to go to Titegroup. I had to push my load up to 3.3gr to get the same accuracy as Bullseye. I haven't tried W231 one yet.
Some of my friends (acquaintances) I was telling to buy some primers and some other things (before the Plandemic) and a couple of them said "yeah I should do that" but then never did. One of them even works at one of the local gun shops. After everything pretty much disappeared one of them...
The powder is probably not a canister powder that is available to us. I would go with BE-86, it was a commercial powder for many years before Alliant made it into a canister powder.
If I might make a suggestion, make a little shelf that you can mount to a wall that is just big enough for your scale and a trickler and set it about eye level. This moves the scale off the loading bench and away from the vibrations of the reloading process. I suggest eye level for the balance...
I like what bassjam said about being self sufficient and it doesn't always have to be about saving money.
Buying the cheap walmart packs is what most people compare when looking at reloading shotshells. Having gone through a couple of component shortages I learned to stock up when items were...
Hi, I want to comment on your dies. You stated that you bought a Lee 4 die set, the third die (seating die) is also a crimping die. The fourth die is the FCD or Factory Crimp Die. It also post sizes the round. I know a few people that state that this post sizing can cause issues with cast...
Power Pistol and BE-86 have almost identical burn rate, BE-86 has a flash suppressant and Power Pistol does not.
IMR Target was made to be in competition with Bullseye. Red with Red Dot, Green with Green Dot, Blue with Blue Dot The powder that was supposed to be made to go head to head with...
Thanks for the link bersaguy, that was a good read.
I do have quite a few WCC brass cases that I started with in the late 80's, I also have some others that appear to be much older with 6X accompanying the lettering in the headstamp. These don't look military to me though. Working on getting...
Was going through some 38 spl range brass and found some with crimped primers. The cases in question are all stamped "Winchester 38 SPL". I tried to upload a picture from my phone but it had issues. Semi circle style crimp, not 3 stake marks. Using an RCBS hand held primer pocket reamer, I...
One of the reasons the bolt might have stuck is the bolt might have galled the threads of the aluminum mold. If this is the case, the repair is going to be a bit more work than just a broken bolt removal.
I would leave it bagged in the ammo can until you can get some old reclaimed powder cans. Do NOT use glass jars, sunlight destroys powder. Make sure all of the bag is pushed down so the seal can work like it is supposed to.
I use a LCT for loading my 223. I have been weighing every charge. Station 1: Rifle charging die with a powder funnel. Station 2, empty. Station 3: seating die. Station 4: Lee Factory Crimp Die. I start with a fully prepped and primed case and a charge set slightly under target weight on...
