Obviously this is because a 1911 has an external safety away from the trigger while the Glock does not. The reason that I purchased a Glock is that is the gun I wanted at the price I wanted. If I would carry a 1911, it would be a Kimber, but I don't have an extra grand laying around now. In...
You make some good points, but my argument is based on peace of mind. In the off chance that in a struggle I grab the gun wrong from my IWB holster and pull the trigger, I will carry with an empty chamber.
Now adding a manual safety would allow me to feel comfortable with a round in the...
This conversation has a lot of great points being made. The fact remains though, that I do not feel comfortable carrying my Glock with a round in the chamber. So you say that I should not own a gun, I have no business carrying, well that is your opinion. If I had a 1911, I would probably...
Thanks, guys. I really wanted a Kimber, and when I purchased the Glock (because it was a good gun at a better price) I was hoping that I would not have buyers remorse. This G30 is so fun to fire, I am glad that I made the decision I did. Not saying that I may not get a Kimber 1911 in the...
Saw a couple of Desert Eagle 50 AEs at the gun show this weekend in Denton, TX. I think that with a good trade or a lot of haggling, this would be the way to go.
Alright, range report time. Keep in mind that while this is the first gun I have owned, I have extensive weapons training from the Army, to include Expert certification with the M9 (which is not as hard as it may sound). This is my first time firing a .45 (or anything larger than 9mm).
So a...
Went to the Denton gun show and came home with a Glock 30. Picked up a box of FMJ for the range and a box of JHP for the house. Which raises a good question which I should have asked before getting the ammo, is there any reason not to use +P in a Glock 30?
Anyway, thanks for the all of the...
Sorry, but modern Glocks have more than a trigger safety. From their website:
TRIGGER SAFETY
As the first of the three GLOCK “Safe Action” safety features, the trigger safety prevents inadvertent firing by lateral forces on the trigger. Releasing the trigger will automatically reactivate the...
The best tip I can offer when first learning to fire a handgun is trigger squeeze. Instinctively you want to look down the barrel, acquire the target and pull the trigger. The problem with this is that you actually move the barrel of the gun when you pull the trigger. Moving the barrel a half...
Thanks for all of the information. Heading to the gun show in Denton, TX this weekend. Doubt I will pick something up so soon, but if I do, I will let you all know what I come home with.
Thanks!

Hi NG VI. I am kind of sold on the .45. I want a bigger bang for the buck and as I am a fairly big guy, I can conceal something of the magnitude of a Glock 30 fairly easily. The .40 does have a lot of kick, though that is not an issue for me.
