Question on Mech Tech 1911 CCU

Thanks for that info. I'm planning to use a Kimber with it and the (ambi) safety is somewhat extended. However, that is an easy thing to fix. I was mainly wondering if a thumb safety could be made to work and it sounds like it will. Thanks much.

Question on Mech Tech 1911 CCU

I am currently considering the purchase of a Mech Tech CCU for a 1911-type pistol but am wondering if the thumb safety remains functional when the pistol lower is assembled on the CCU. Pictures of the assembled unit seem to show thw hammer back and thumb safety off. Just wondering if there...

    How Tough is a 629-1?

Thanks Phil. This gun is in pretty good shape so I will probably stick with it for now.

    How Tough is a 629-1?

Recently I got out my 6" 629-1 which has been in retirement for about the past decade and a half and am planning to return it to the field. I got it new in the '80s and at that time it was the most recent version. However, it appears that Smith & Wesson is now up to the 629-6 and I'm...

    45/70 Machine Gun Ammo

Thanks for the info gents. I suspected this might be gatling gun ammo and will keep the rest of it in good shape.

    45/70 Machine Gun Ammo

Montels: Thanks for the link. This link refers to 6mm and 7mm Colt machineguns, but the ammo is 45/70. I don't think Colt ever made a 45/70 "potatoe digger" and therefore am wondering: Is this really gatling gun ammo?

    45/70 Machine Gun Ammo

Recently I received several boxes of old 45/70 ammo from somebody cleaning up odds and ends. It is in red & green boxes and is 405 gr. soft-nosed jacketed ammo. However, the box indicates it is "regulated for Colt machineguns." To my knowledge, Colt never made a 45/70 machine gun and I was...

    Filler Screw question

I forgot what size the filler screws are for for the top of the receiver on a Marlin 1895SS rifle. These are the holes when attaching a scope mount. Anyway, I took the scope mount off and can't find the filler screws so if anyone could advise which ones I should get it would be much appreciated.

Question on GC Act of 1968 & Interstate Commerce

Gents, I am no legal scholar but my reading of the Gun Control Act of 1968 suggests that certain firearms are prohibited only if they are received after having been shipped or transported in interstate commerce. Therefore, my question is: If ownership of a firearm is established within the...

    Why a lever action?

Thirties: Don't mean to jump in front of the prfesser in reply, but I just installed one of those Marbles sights two nights ago. Haven't shot it yet, but the sight flips up and down easily with thumb pressure, and has a detente to lock it in the up position. There doesn't appear to be any...

    Why a lever action?

DonP: Where did you find that large loop lever for your M92? I can't find them at Brownells.

    Why a lever action?

One more point gents: Next to the single shot, the levergun is the only other rifle that will not slam fire on you. No matter how fast you work the lever, the bolt is only going to go 1/3 as fast. I bought my 1895SS two days after my FAL blew up on me after slam-firing a winchester...

    1911 Quick-Fixes

Thanks 1911tuner Last night I went to replace a dovetailed rear sight on a rifle and the new sight could be pushed all the way through the dovetail with finger pressure. I used your prick punch tip on the bottom surface and then tapped in the new sight nice and snug. If I hadn't read that tip...

    Removing Dovetailed Sight

Thanks for the into. It all sounds doable, so I will go ahead and order up a sight.
