Think about this? (What Places are Inappropriate for Concealed Carry?)

Ok. I just wondered because if your not a member the gym (Planet Fitness) charges something like $20 to use the facilities. As for WV weddings, I have had friends carry to them. I just haven't been to a wedding since getting my license. Besides they don't call it a shotgun wedding for...

Think about this? (What Places are Inappropriate for Concealed Carry?)

My thoughts (echoes almost everyone else's): Church ? Sure. There have been plenty of church shootings lately. In fact, I know I'm not the only one to carry. The Gym ? I would but I don't go to the gym as often as I should, and I think it's illegal in NC (places that charge admission...

    Racking the Slide

If I'm understanding the wuestion correctly, you should pull the slide all the way to the rear and just release it. The speed you pull back with doesn't matter as far as I know. Just don't 'ride' the slide forward and you should have no problems. Jay *I guess I type too slow.

It's Official, I got orders to San Antonio.

I just wanted to pop in and say thanks for your service. Oh yeah and I also wanted to say I'm sorry you had to go to OSU. ;) Go Mountaineers (WVU) :neener: Jay

    Knife at School!

Not too long ago (3 years, my where has time gone?) when I was in high school, I almost always had a knife or multitool on me. My excuse was that I was a techie in theater and you never knew what needed cut or repaired. Of course school policy was no knives, but that instructor had a don't ask...

    10mm as a SD gun

I have no personal experience but a here is a mini review by KBintheSLC. He seems to have good things to say. Glock 20 (or 29) I believe. Jay

Hmm. I'd kind of forgotten about gunshows. I'll have to check around. The only issue would I see is being able to be in WV (residency) to pick it up (and maybe finding someone willing to ship it). Like I said I only have about 1 maybe 1.5 weeks in WV every 3 months (school schedule). Still it...

    irrational and unfounded fears

I have to admit that I have had a couple of fears. One is when I first started carrying that a round in the chamber would 'just go off' so for the first couple days I carried without on in the chamber. :o Shortly after, I realized that it was kind of ridiculous. I now carry one in chamber...

RIATAC45, That is almost exactly the look I'm after. Very nice. I might add some night sights or at least a three dot sight (as I understand, the default sights are all black). Jay

I am planning on getting a full sized tactical model. As far as getting the GI model I was afraid that's what the answer was going to be. Oh well, I happened upon a little extra income so that should help lower the cost. Eric, thanks for the suggestion. I had looked on gunbroker and the cost...

Yet another Rock Island 1911 thread (Price quotes and couple questions).

Yeah I have. The problem is that I am attending college in NC while my residency remains in WV (ie out of state student). This kind of gives me a narrow window in which to find and buy handguns from a private seller (no one seems to carry used RIAs that I've found) At most I may have a week here...

Hey all, I know you're all probably tired of hearing about RIA or answering price question, so I apologize. Also, I tried searching but didn't really find the answers that I was looking for. Anyway, I am trying to save up and get into the wonderful world of 1911s via a Rock Island Armory...

    Quiet my Mosquito?

You can buy a suppressor, but you have to pay a $200 tax stamp to the ATF and if Alaska allows you to own them. I'm not familiar on the law there. One of our members, 444, did a nice write up on what is required to buy a suppressor in this thread (post #6) Sorry I don't know how to link to a...
