How do you age your brass?

Well, back in the old country! There are those that make fake antiques, and one of the ways they aged brass and copper, was to bury the item in a manure pile for a few days. Now, not many have a manure pile handy, but I have aged copper in urine. I didn't think it worked too well. Maybe I'm...

Well I have to admit I've only had 4 or 5 groups that good over a 10 year period.

    Like to reload

With the 270 and 220 swift very good 3/8", but that was 30 years or so ago. I lived in a house where I could shoot 100 yd out the window of my "gun room". Now I am working on 45/70 Black powder in a trap door, but I have to drive some distance to shoot. So far I do well to keep them on the...

    Like to reload

I have what is probably an unusual problem for most shooters. I like to reload and don't shoot enough to keep me busy. I like to spend a lot of time making sure my cases are as close as possible to being exactly the same. flash hole size, chamfered inside and out, neck wall thickness, case...

    Reloading presses... I got questions.

I have a Herters cast iron 2 station single stage press my dad bought in the 50's. In use more or less continuously since new. It's still a good tool. Probably weights 30 pounds. You could crush a ball bearing with it.

    Casting

Thanks I was thinking maybe the mold was cooling. I have been letting the bullet set for 30 seconds befoe dropping it. Maybe too long.

    Casting

It's probably been discussed in the past, but I'll put it out there again. I am casting 405 grain hollow base .459 bullets in a Lee alum. mold. It seems that when I get the temps right so there are no wrinkles the bullets start out at a littler over 409 gr and decrease in weight as I...

    Wrist Pain

I suppose this isn't exactly the right place for this, but it is a shooting issue. My brother-in-law has wrist pain (both wrists) to the point that he can seldom shoot anymore. No hand guns at all and often no long guns. 73 years old, an avid hunter and shooter. The Doc is recommending...

    First BP Load

Just starting out and the only thing I had to play with was 2400. I found the Pyrodex and loaded 1 round. Still working on getting some FFg. I think I will put all that other stuff away and stick to real black powder.
