    survival combo

What Balrog is pointing out is that the Glock 27 is chambered in .40 S&W from the factory. :) edit: wow, I was late to that punch. shoud've refreshed before I posted. :P

Reommend Home Defense for Elderly Couple w/Special Needs

Maybe someone already proposed it, but pepper sprays and the like (i.e. pepper foams) are severely under-rated. That stuff works and works WELL. Many of them are catered towards women (who generally physically have less muscular capacities than a male) so it might be a good idea for the elderly...

    Which 1911?

Springfield Mil-Spec or a Colt Series 80 are my votes!

    Dealing with .45 ACP Recoil

I used to exclusively shoot in a Weaver stance, because I thought isosceles was impractical as it made your body into a larger silhouette. However, I recently tried isosceles at the range and it worked REALLY well for me. Try that. Also, remember: you are on the safe side of the gun! Try to...

    Glock vs XD: .45 ACP

Okay, I understand that there are many threads comparing the .45 ACP Glocks with the .45 ACP XDs--and trust me, I have read them--but I think that my questions are in-depth and different enough to warrant a new thread on this topic. I suppose this thread with be a mix of a review of these...

No Guns = No Money: Let's educate the masses.

I am not taking any sides here, but what is the reason the stores are not allowing guns in? Is it because they are afraid of being robbed by those guns, or is it because some customers may become disturbed if they were to see a glimpse / outline of a CCW? If they don't allow it, nothing to it...

    Firing without hearing protection?

My friend's dad has told us stories of when he was in the military during Vietnam. He told us that he would ask M60 gunners how they didn't lose their hearing and they told him that in the rush of it, it was as if their ears had "closed." I'm pretty sure if you need to fire a gun in defense, you...

Question on CA Law on Import of Guns from Other States

Thanks guys. That's what I thought, and I recall seeing something like that on one or two auctions a while back. Just wanted to make double sure! Also, if anyone else knows anything else that might be helpful, it would be appreciated!

    Shotgun for defense? Maybe not.

birdshot is perfect for defense, although #6 might be slightly edging on the under-powered side (but I would feel COMPLETELY safe with #7 or 8 shot, don't get me wrong). What I want to PREVENT is sending pellets through a wall / door and into the kids next door or someone/thing not meant to be...

Question on CA Law on Import of Guns from Other States

Okay, let's say I were to bid on and win an auction on Gunbroker.com and let's say that the pistol I bid on has a magazine with a capacity over 10 rounds (the legal limit in CA). Let's also say that the pistol is on the CA "Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale" so it is legal here. Can that...

    California Legal AK

If you disassemble your mags into kits, you CANNOT reassemble them, keep in mind. ...Or sell them, or give them away, or otherwise transfer them in any way (as full mags). Basically, they turn into useless pieces of metal. Sell them while you are outside of California and only bring 10-rounders...

    1991 / 1911 Series 80 firing pin problem?

Interesting points you both make. Thanks for the replies! I'm feeling better about the Series 80 now.

    1991 / 1911 Series 80 firing pin problem?

Hey everyone, I have a question as to the quality of 1991 / 1911 Series 80 pistols. http://youtu.be/OuxH_FLWDtg See 4:02 to 7:32. Has anyone else had this problem with their 1991 or other series 80s? I was considering one, and think it's a good idea, but am not convinced that they've worked out...

    Interesting Article

I think what they might mean by bullet "casings" is bullet jackets. I mean, it's not like simply taking prints from brass would be groundbreaking news (or news at all). With modern science, I don't doubt that we could piece together a jacket from a fired bullet enough to get at least a partial...

    Disadvantage of .38 in a .357

From my knowledge, a "crud ring" builds when firing (shorter) 38 rounds through a 357. Just requires a little cleaning before trying to push 357s through it.
