We will mount them in a way so that the face of the target leans back at the bottom. Silencers would be nice but the range is in the peoples republic of Illinoiastan, so silencers = jail.

Keep it on your bench as a reminder. I have a 454 casull case with a 55 degree flair on mine for that same reason.

Thanks, all the points are valid. They will mostly be shot at from straight on up to about a 15 to twenty degree angle from a left to right position. Might have to secure a chain to the bottom of the target to hold them back a few inches at the bottom.

8541 Tactical has a pretty good article on figuring a range if you know the height of a target, with the formula perhaps you can work the math backwards? That's beyond my pay grade though.

I've been loading 240gr and 300gr LSWC in 44 mag cases with 6gr of Unique for a couple of years out of an 8" revolver with no squibs. That's a pussy cat load. I think you would be fine.....but as they all say YMMV.

Glue and screw two 2x4's going from the left cabinet to the right cabinet. Make sure they are on edge, not flat. also glue the 2x's to the bottom of the counter top and hold them in place with a couple of pipe clamps while you're securing them to the cabinet bases.

15 degrees and sunny in NW Indiana today and just got done shooting the same gun as you. 6gr Unique topped off with a 240gr lead pill. Shoots like a .38 in such a heavy revolver.
