I heard that the cougar was made by Beretta, then Stoeger got the machines and made them? So same gun different name?

Thanks for the input. I have narrowed it down to the, 3 gen glock 17 w/ 3 mags, Stoeger Cougar, and Sig P229. Any of these guns have problems?

How about an Eddystone/Remington 1917 rifle? I'm pretty sure you could get one for $300 or a little more. It holds 6 30-06 rounds and is pretty accurate out to 300+ yards with iron sites, for me anyways.

When I went shooting, an older man came over to see my 1917 Eddystone, I let him shoot it, and he let me put a couple rounds through it:) I want one now, but they're to expensive:( Another time I got to shoot 30 rounds out on an FN Five-Seven.

I'm 90% sure that the glock is a 2nd generation, are these just as good as the 3rd gen? I what you guys think of these two guns.

What year did they add the rail on the Glock 17, because the one I'm looking at does not have one. It's not a deal breaker, just wondering. It also has the ported barrel, the slide and barrel have circles cut out of them, instead of the slot design on the newer ones. So about how old is this...

Thanks for the info. What is the main difference between the Glock and the Sig. I know the Glock is striker fired and the Sig is DAO, is there anything else that I should know about the two? If I read a description right, and correct me if I'm wrong, striker fired is when the slide half...

I think I have got it narrowed down to the Glock 17 or the compact Sig P250. I'll be going to the store at the end of this week to look at the three guns one more time before I make my choice. But it will probably be the Glock or Sig. Any more advice on those to would be helpful. Thanks

Thanks for the help everyone. I didnt think it would be that hard to get my first handgun. I went in the store only wanting to look at the cougar and then he handed me the sig and a glock 17. WHY! Now they made it hard to decide. MY main problem is they all feel the same in my hand.

We have no indoor ranges for about 150 miles in any direction, so it doesn't matter if its ported or not. If I got the P250 how much do you think I could get out of the .357 barrel money wise, its brand new? The problem is all three of the guns feel good in my hand! This will be the only...

I don't know if I will ever use the .357 barrel either, might just sale the barrel, but I do have a reloading press, if that changes anything. Are all three of these guns good for a first time handgun owner? I have shot everything up to 10mm and 45cal. so i'm used to recoil. Thanks.

It is a brand new P250, so with the .357 sig barrel for $475 sounds like a good deal to me, how about you guys? While I was there one of the workers showed me a Glock m-17 with a ported barrel used for $429. I like all three guns but................

I'll be going to the store to make sure that it is a P250, it will be a range/side arm for coyote rabbit hunting, but mostly a range gun. I'll handle both again when I'm there and give you guys an update on what I think. Thanks
