    Chicago Gun Laws!!

The Glock is the only permitable gun you listed in Chicago - as long as you have magazines less than 12 rounds. The CX4 and sub2000 are considered "assault weapons" by Cook County so Chicago does too. The weird thing is that the Cook County AWB only affects unincorporated CC. It's a bigger mess...

    AOW in Illinois

I understand the pain the rest of my fellow Illinoisans feel with "move out" comments. I hear it constantly when I mention I'm from Chicago. At least you're not behind enemy lines in "Daley-stan". Like most of you, I have my own issues with the twisted gun laws in my area so here's my particular...

    Bringing guns into Chicago/Cook County?

In Chicago you can carry pepper spray (in fact they are available in gas stations, Kmart, Target, or dollar stores all around the city) and folding knives with blades under 2 1/2" such as Case knives and non-scary-looking knives. No one can give me a straight answer on automatic or spring assist...

    Glock 31 Pros and Cons

I have a 31C and I can say it's my fun gun:) The differences between the 31 and 31C are of course the ports on the barrel and slide. The front sight of the 31C gets dirty but you could just wipe it off in between magazine changes. No, the front sight will not come off of it with extensive...

Which shotgun (Benelli) is right for me?

All single shot, double barrel, bolt-action, lever-action, and pump-action shotguns are legal in Chicago. Semiauto shotguns have to fit a certain criteria: No more than a five round magazine capacity. No pistol grips below the stock. If you're deciding on a Benelli semiauto make sure it has a...

Beretta CX 4 Storm: Legal in Cook County IL?

There is a portion in the County AWB that states that it does not affect the laws of municipalities with home rule.

Beretta CX 4 Storm: Legal in Cook County IL?

The laws of the entire state are screwed up. Home rule screws things up even more. The firearms transportation laws are further screwed up because of home rule. So, to get back on topic, In unincorporated Cook County the CX4 Storm is illegal since the elections last year. Remember the last...

    Benelli Nova/Super Nova

Get the Super Nova. The two advantages the SN has over the Nova is that the stock can be swapped out and it does not have the rattle in the foreend. Both models can use the same side saddle, the same magazine extention, and the same barrels.

    Benelli Super Nova Tactical Pump

I have a Nova and have only handled a Super Nova. The Super Nova has a thicker trigger guard and does not have the rattling forend that the Nova has.

    Looking for a new shotgun

The Nova cannot be fitted with a different stock only the recoil pad to smaller one if you'd like. The nova reciever and stock are integrated. The Super Nova can have the stock switched out with three different stocks. The Super Nova can use the mag extention and barrels that the Nova can use.

    Keeping firearms in Chicago

A resident of Chicago can own a handgun, they just cannot have it within city limits. The only handguns that can "legally" be within city limits are those owned by CPD, any LEO, state licensed security firm and guards, anyone that has a PERC card (PI's,), or those already registered before the...

    Good Lead Remover for Smoothbores?

Get yourself a Hoppe's tornado brush, Kleenbore twister brush, or gunslick spiral brush. Make a pass of two with a patch with solvent or 3in1 oil, which everone you use. Let it sit there for a while meantime clean the rest of the shotgun. Make a couple of passes with either of the brushes I...

    Keeping firearms in Chicago

Here's a "copy and paste" of a response I gave earlier this year. Any shotgun (with a barrel length of 18" or greater) or rifle (with a barrel length of 16" or greater) that is bolt-action, pump action, level action, break action, or single shot is legal as long as it is registered with the...

    Benelli M4

OEM Magazine extentions are no longer imported due to some federal law (Ithink its 922r). In order for the gun to be legal it has to have a certain number of US produced parts. There are a couple of US manufactures producing the extention.
