12-year THR member here. Own more guns than I can count.
These militia dudes playing soldier are embarrassing and make me pine for at least a little bit of sensible gun control. Not looking for a debate - won't even see any replies. But seeing this childishness motivated me to at least state my...
@MisterSmith - I have tried a few different pocket holsters over the years, but have come back around to the first one I tried - the DeSantis Nemesis. I tried the DeSantis "Fly," which has an extra flap to reduce printing, but it does too much in my opinion - too bulky.
The Mika holsters are...
Speedloaders
I have a speed loader for the 340, and I think it works ok with the CT 405 grip. I also have a couple of the speed strips.
Which do I carry for a reload? Neither (well, a speed strip is in the car, but I never carry it). I am pathetically slow reloading the 340, and maybe someday...
Undergunned...
Heading into Yellowstone tomorrow on the family vacation... Looking at the pictures of the Grizzlies makes me feel under-gunned for the first time with 5 short-barrel 357s in my 340... :o
If SHTF with a grizzly, go for a head shot or just throw it at him and run away...
Thanks to all who posted - I am comfortable with pepper spray and the light. I will be at a resort the whole time or at worst a nearby restaurant. I should have just Googled the legality of the spray instead of bothering all you nice people!
Take care, and safe shooting!

Ok, please don't say don't go, and please don't spell California with a K.
I will be flying to a resort in California for business for about 4 days (carry-on bag only). I'll take my mini-maglight with me, but likely nothing else SD-related.
What other weapon would you recommend...
@Nemotacyst:
Do you realize if you had bought a 340 when you first said you were going to, it would have only cost you about $.04 per day? ;-)
Just joshing - you make surprisingly relevant posts considering you don't own the gun... ha!
Welcome, and great to hear from you - congrats on the great gun. Can't wait to read your report! No IWB for me at this point - interested to see how you like carrying it...
Comp-Tac / Kydex with 340
I was doing some Black Friday holster shopping for my HK P2000SK at comptac.com (LOVE those holsters for fit and function).
I noticed that they have j-frame holsters available (they break 340s out separately, presumably because of the Big Dot sight). Anyone use...
Entering 4 years of every day 340 carry, I cannot even remember the price difference I paid, must be down to about $.03 per day. And 2oz. extra every day for 3-4 years would be up to like 100lbs! :neener:
When I started carrying, I started with a steel Charter Arms Undercover .38 I inherited...
All this recent posting activity makes me itch to shoot! Things have been crazy with work and kids - I confess I haven't hit the range in months. Please no lectures, I know how important practice is... However, the simplicity of a 340 with CT gives me comfort I could still use the thing in a...
Freedom - my $.02
Unless you are really, really short on cash, I would just say that a year from now, or 5, or 10, you are not going to notice what you paid for the gun. You should get the one you like better.
Both are great guns, and both are probably "fairly" priced. You get a bit more...
