Ok, please don't say don't go, and please don't spell California with a K.

I will be flying to a resort in California for business for about 4 days (carry-on bag only). I'll take my mini-maglight with me, but likely nothing else SD-related.

What other weapon would you recommend for something I can buy there when I'm on the ground that is either cheap enough I can discard it at the end of the trip, or something I could easily ship back home?

Is pepper spray legal in California? I would possibly buy that and just toss it at the end of the week - I feel pretty comfortable with the maglight-pepperspray combo if I cannot carry. I've trained with knives but always hated them - I might have to look at buying a "disposable" knife there...

Thanks!

You need to visit the non forearm forum once n a while. There's a whole world of stuff to use that would get zero attention in an office environment. Nice sturdy pen/mechanical pencil, knife or fork off the table, sturdy walking stick/cane, good basic unarmed defensive moves.

Unfortunately, you can't take guns everyplace, or need to.

Yes, pepper spray is legal; must be properly labeled
(2) Every tear gas container and tear gas weapon that may be
lawfully purchased, possessed, and used pursuant to this section
shall have a label that states: "WARNING: The use of this substance
or device for any purpose other than self-defense is a crime under
the law. The contents are dangerous -- use with care."
(pepper spray is legally defined as 'tear gas') and no more than 2.5 oz in the container.

If you buy it here, it will most probably be legal.

You should be pretty set between the Mini-maglight and a small pepper spray. I'd just buy it when you get here and throw it in a trash can when you fly out

Thanks to all who posted - I am comfortable with pepper spray and the light. I will be at a resort the whole time or at worst a nearby restaurant. I should have just Googled the legality of the spray instead of bothering all you nice people!

Take care, and safe shooting!

No - Desert Springs. Actually back out to Disneyland this summer. I wasn't even thinking of that - guess the same answer applies!
