    Taurus Customer Service Rant

+1 I recently bought a new Springfield 1911, but a Sig 1911 Revolution had been on my short list too however. I ruled out any more Sig purchases due to the total lack of follow-up customer service to some emails I sent to Sig in New Hampshire involving issues with my new Sig 2022 several...

    Rock Island compact

I see RIA 1911's quite a bit in my area. I just saw a 3.5" nib RIA for $488 yesterday and it looked real nice. I have never shot one, but from what I read here & elsewhere, the owners seemed to be very pleased with Rock Island 1911's. Of course the general fact that the shorter the 1911, the...

Sig P220 vs SA 1911 Loaded

That's great deal on the Sig 220 plus 2 mags and warranty. I'd buy the Sig now. You can always find an SA Loaded later and after shooting 45acp in the P220 you may find that your need of the 1911 is not as strong anymore. Either way you win, but that Sig is priced well, IMO.

Range report - Springfield GI Champion (4")

This Springfield 4" 1911 seemed really stiff & tight for a basic GI model costing $489. The recoil spring was very stout & there was very little play between slide & frame. Range trip #1. 100 rds of Magtech 230gr ball & 100 rds of Fiocchi 230gr ball just to loosen up the gun. Using the only...

What is your favorite "inferior caliber" gun?

That's easy - I bought a like new nickeled Bersa Thunder .380 used one day on the spur of the moment for about $235. What a blast to shoot. Fed and fired everything & was accurate & quick on target. Had to trade it off due to low funds while buying a new gun. That Bersa Thunder may have been...

    Best value handgun?

There are so many, BUT...... My lastest purchase of a great value is a Springfield GI Champion (4") All steel, lifetime warranty, parkerized with holster/mag holder. New for $489 plus tax. And it is of course powered by the legendary 45acp :D Great value? You better believe it - I...

I gave in & bought a new SA GI Champion

I hear that. After I get very familiar with this new SA GI Champion and put hundreds of rds through it, I'm going to be looking for a nice enhancement package. Maybe one from Springfield: http://www.springfield-armory.com/custom.php Or maybe Robar or others. You're right TX1911fan, it...

Itching to buy another Sig, recomendations?

I've had the Sig 2022 9mm w/rail for several years now and am very pleased with it. It's accurate, feeds everything, comes w/two grip choices and of all the Sigs I've held or shot, I like the feel of the 2022 the most. Low price too.

I gave in & bought a new SA GI Champion

I've had an 1911 itch for about a year now, but just could not decide on which one and how much to spend. I thought it was down to a S&W PD scandium or Colt SS Commander.......until I saw a NIB Springfield Armory Champion (4'' barrel - parkerized) at $489 with case & accessories. Deal! What a...

Do you like the new generation pistols with plastic furniture?

I've had about a 50/50 mix of all metal and poly handguns over the last 30 years, but I have been mostly poly-framed through the last ten years. However, for some reason that is not quite clear to me, I am strongly heading back to all-metal handguns these days. I think that the heavier metal...

Colt 1911's in 2007 - Buy or not Buy ?

The poll shows that Colt is trusted these days So far, 65 members have entered a vote and since I am the one who posted the Colt poll and am in the market for a Colt 1911, I'm very encouraged with the results so far. Let's see, 71% would very likely buy a 2007 Colt 1911 29%...

    An old SIG-Sauer P220

I'm no Sig expert, but I do own and shoot a Sig Pro 9mm alot and from my experience & the comments of many other Sig shooters both here and on the Sig Forum, you should be in great shape with that old, but little used P220. And best of all, it's FREE. Clean it good & put a few hundred rds...

    Uncle Mikes Holsters?

I basically use the same approach & reasoning as the OP when it comes to Uncle Mike holsters. When I aquire a new or new-to-me handgun, I always tell myself it's a long term gun, but I'm just kidding myself. With that in mind, I get a low cost (read cheap) holster for my new...
