In my experience, the only people carrying in NYC are off-duty or retired law enforcement. I've yet to meet an "average joe" that had a permit.

At the very least, having a record of who bought your gun would be useful should any law enforcement officer ever come knocking and inquiring why your gun was used in a crime etc.

I've never shot the SPR, but I can attest to the FN TSR XP .308 being an amazing gun. Good feel and great accuracy.

Scope mounts: Springfield 3rd Generation or Sadlak?

Well this is a surprise. I was expecting mostly posts that sang the praises of other scopes more than provided any information about these. I'll have to really look into this brand before I buy anything.
