What's it like to have a CCW in NYC or Chicago?

In my experience, the only people carrying in NYC are off-duty or retired law enforcement. I've yet to meet an "average joe" that had a permit.

    Secret Service and CCW's

I saw the Secret Service waiting for some diplomat from a tiny Caribbean nation to arrive at a place in NYC last year. In that case they kept very watchful eyes and made people show that the bulges under their shirts were cell phones, not anything else. I would guess anyone legally armed would...

    Springfield EMP?

It's a pleasure to shoot. If you can handle the price, don't hesitate to get one.

    CCW, cruise ships and piracy

The Port of NY has three cruise ports (Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Bayonne). Concealed carry in NY and NJ is extremely limited, so unless you do live in those states AND have a CCW permit in those states, you would be violating state/city laws just by crossing the border to board the ship. Then...

    Which .357 for Son?

A Ruger SP101 with a bobbed hammer and hogue grips is my all-time favorite revolver.

    Glock 22 .40 vs. Ruger .357 SP-101 5 shot snubbie 2.25 in barrel

If you already have a SP-101, I'd recommend you add something new. So my vote is the G-27 in 40. However, I would strongly recommend trying something different than a Glock. If you already have a G-17 and G-21, why not try a differnt brand? Smith & Wesson, Springfield, Sig...just to name...

    Happiness is a Worn Gun

The link above is to download a pdf of an article from Harper's Magazine about concealed carry. Thoughts on the article?

    PA - Non-Resident CCW

You have CCW permits (FL) that have reciprocal agreements with multiple jurisdictions (PA). There is no need to have permits that will duplicate your abilities. You have a NJ driver's license...are you applying for a PA driver's license too?? I think not. As the saying goes, keep it simple...

    Public or Private Range

I've belonged to a private club for years. Lately though I have been going to public/commercial ranges more often because the new administration at the club has become somewhat dictatorship-like with its rules. For example, we are no longer allowed to shoot at anything resembling a human (e.g...

    FN or Steyr

Been looking at picking up a new 308 bolt rifle. I've narrowed my choices down to either: FN A1 SPR .308, 24" barrel or STEYR SSG PII .308, 25.6" barrel The rifle will be used exclusively for target shooting from a bench at 100-600yds. The Steyr is about $300 more than the FN...

    Selling Rifles Face to Face

At the very least, having a record of who bought your gun would be useful should any law enforcement officer ever come knocking and inquiring why your gun was used in a crime etc.

    FN A5 M SPR Review???

I've never shot the SPR, but I can attest to the FN TSR XP .308 being an amazing gun. Good feel and great accuracy.

    Vortex scopes

Well this is a surprise. I was expecting mostly posts that sang the praises of other scopes more than provided any information about these. I'll have to really look into this brand before I buy anything.
